SAMUEL E. JOHNSON

Looking for ancestors, descendants and siblings of S. E. (Samuel Eccles ?) JOHNSON, b. Hillsboro, Tx. abt 1902. He mar OLLIE BETTS abt 1920 and had 2 ch: LOUIS, b. 31 Dec 1921 in Vernon, Tx. and ETHEL BELLE, b. 21 Oct 1924. He had brothers, HEBER (Hebert?) JOHNSON and WILL JOHNSON (the oldest); and sisters GLADYS JOHNSON, TOMMIE JOHNSON, ETHEL JOHNSON and "Sister Babe". I believe S. E. worked on the Wagonner Ranch (W. T. Wagonner Estate ?) or perhaps the Matador Ranch in Tx. He died sometime between 1924 - 1926 and was buried in East View Cemetery in Vernon. Have not been able to find a death certificate. Would appreciate any info on his parents and other ancestors.

Looking for info on the Johnson family who lived in the Kingsburg section of what was then Marion Co., SC in the late 1800's. My info is limited -- I know of two brothers, MAJOR and JAMES FOSTER JOHNSON, who was my great grandfather. Peter was indentured to James Jones and learned the carpentry trade. They had several children, PETER CALLAWAY Jr. and WILLIAM CALLAWAY among them. In the 1700's the descendants lived in the Little Creek Hundred of Sussex CO., DE. They were listed on 1790 census. I would like info about Elizabeth and her family. I know she was indentured but to whom? Where was her birthplace and where was Peter's birthplace.?

My gg grandmother was ODELIA (don't know maiden name), born in LA. in 1832/33. She was divorced by 1880 census. Her dau was DELIA JOHNSON, b. abt 1854. Delia m. EDWARD MYERS in 1874 in Adams Co., MS. Delia's dau was DAISY MYERS, b. about 1877 in Natchez. All three were evidently living in Pine Ridge, Beat 4, Adams Co., MS., in 1880. Delia was probably born in LA. also. Any information about these three would be appreciated.

I am looking for my paternal grandparents and info about my father's half brothers. My grandfather JAMES JOHNSON, b. Denmark around 1850, came to USA at abt age 10, d. possibly in California in late 1940s or 1950. He must have lived around Pawnee City, NE. or across state line in KS in 1883. Spouse Mrs. ELIZABETH JOHNSTON SAUNDERS b. in IL. 1842; 1 son, CLYDE CHARLES RAY JOHNSON b Apr 1884 at Pawnee City, NE. I think he has other sons from another marriage named Roy, Fred, or George. Elizabeth had Saunders ch: Lyman Henan; Fannie; George and David Remick Saunders. Lyman and George Saunders were barbers in the Valley Canter and Wichita KS. area. My father Clyde was also a barber in Goshen Co., WY. His half brother Roy Johnson may have been in the Pinebluffs or Burns, WY. area in 1910.

He had a sister ALICE JOHNSON, a son LEWIS/LOUIS BOOKER/BURTON JOHNSON, he was a minister and was married at least 3 times. All this info came from different family members, none of us are sure. Supposedly Johnny killed his brother-in-law and brought my grandfather down here in a croker sack. Left a family somewhere in GA. or AL. Johnny was married to LULA (mnuk). In Walton Co., he married MARTHA CAIN 17 May 1793. I believe he probably had family somewhere else. Abraham mar ALICE CROSSING around Crestview, FL. & had 2 ch: JULIAN M., JOHNSON & NAOMI JOHNSON, I think. Abraham is buried at Red Oak Cemetery in Calhoun Co.

My father is ELWIN EUGENE JOHNSON; his wife WANDA ISABEL JORDAN of Gordon, TX (1920). His parents were LUTHER BEN JOHNSON and ODESSA HUGH ALEXANDER. I think born in 1890, possibly Coleman, TX area. Luther's parents were RUFUS ALBERT JOHNSON and MARY MARSHALL, from abt 1865 and possibly from Coleman, TX area. I have found a reference to MARION FRANCIS JOHNSON (wife Mary Ann) abt 1836 in Hopkins, KY. who had a son named Rufus Albert Johnson but don't know if he is my relative.

Please help us in our search for my husband's family on his mother side. RACHEL JOHNSON PERKINS, was dau of JOHN JOHNSON (b. 1859) and ISABELL CARTER (1866). Their ch: LAURA JOHNSON and CLARA JOHNSON (both b 1885), JAMES M. BROWN JOHNSON (1887) ANDERSON JOHNSON (1889) and BROWNLOW JOHNSON (1895). Rachel was born in Fincastle, KY., lived in Domino, KY. where my husband was born and where Rachel died abt 1927-28. She married GREEN PERKINS, Sep 1918, in Kingmill, OH. As a child, Green lived in Pine Knot, KY. We have hit the wall with this side of the family. No record of Rachel's death in Domino or at the cemetery. My husband, his sister and brother were all young and do not remember much about her death. He and his siblings were raised by their Perkins grandparents. His mother's name was never mentioned. With names like BROWNLOW and ANDERSON JOHNSON, we are hoping others have seen those unusual names in some of their research. Thank you for your help.

LUVENIA ROSE JOHNSON

I am looking for any information about my great grandmother, Mrs. LUVENIA JOHNSON. Her maiden name we think was ROSE. She along with her father and brother (both I think named FRANK ROSE) moved to FL. from AL. abt 1890-1900. The father may have killed a man in AL. Luvenia married at least twice (Johnson and Howard). She had 9 children before she died after having the last abt 1920, may be buried in Bronson or Swanson, Florida. Her father Frank worked in the phosphate mines of north Florida. Any info that can be given regarding any of these relatives is greatly appreciated. [EDITOR's note: Tracye wrote that she believes Luvenia was probably a Seminole Indian. Sorry, there were no Seminole Indians in Alabama in the 1890's or ever; in fact, there weren't ANY Indians there then.]

They had 2 sons that I know of: WILLIAM JOHNSON b June 1739, died 20 June 1749 in Greenwich, buried Episcopal Church Cemetery; and ABRAHAM JOHNSON (b 1756 Greenwich -- 4 Feb 1830, Penfield, NY; 1st wife Jane ?, 2nd wife Betsy?). In 1771, Elizabeth Lockwood Johnston sold some land to her brother Abraham Lockwood in Greenwich.

His father died in a mining accident abt 1834, when William was abt 10 yrs old. The mother moved with William and other ch to Ohio (not proven).
