DAVID E. ("Gene") WARD

Retired Alabama Power Engineer

VALLEY, Ala.-- David Eugene ("Gene") Ward died 1 Nov., 1996 at age 76.

Gene was born 30 June, 1920 in Henry County, Ala., son of David Hickman Ward and Lillian Parrish. He was a grandson of David J. Ward and Sarah Gill, great grandson of Thomas C. Ward and Elizabeth Benton, great great grandson of Theophilus Ward and Martha Vickers. He was pre- ceded in death by his first wife, Marie Watkins Ward.

Gene retired in 1982 after 42 years service with Alabama Power Co. He was a District Engineer in Valley for 21 years. He had lived in Valley since 1961. Gene was a member of First Baptist Church.

Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Geneva, Al.

Survivors include his wife, Joanna Simpson Ward; daughter, Jean Ward Mann, Burlington, NC; sisters, Effie Pearl Ward Sredman, Northhampton, Ma. and Betty Jean Ward Jones, Lehigh Acres, Fl.; brothers, James William Ward, Sylacauga, Al. and Harold P. Ward, Birmingham, Al.; grandchildren, Shannon Adcock, Gastonia, NC and Blake Adcock, Greensboro, NC; stepsons, Harry Fallin and Jack Fallin, both of Tifton, Ga.

Dies In NC At Age 32

WHITEVILLE, NC-- Charles Jevon ("Jabo") Ward of Whiteville died 4 June at age 32.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Burial was in Columbus Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Ward; a son, Charles L. Ward, Newton; maternal grandmothers, Zella Boswell, Whiteville and Gracey B. Marmow, Lake Waccamaw.

US Army Veteran

PHENIX CITY, Ala.-- David F. (Fred) Ward of Phenix City died 26 Sept., at the Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, Ala. at age 73.

Fred was born 8 May, 1924 in Phenix City, son of Louis A. Ward and Inez Bush. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the freight line business. He was a member of Hillside Methodist Church here.

Burial was in the Hillside Methodist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Koon Ward, Phenix City; daughter, Cindy Ward Roberts; sons Jim Ward and Donnie Ward, both of Phenix City; 4 grandchildren; one great grandchild.


MIDLOTHIAN, Va.-- Richard William ("Rocky") Ward died 31 Oct.

Burial was in Dale Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Joni J. Ward; daughter Jennifer Ward; sons Joseph Ward, Joshua Ward and Joshua Ward; granddau-ghter, Jessica Ward.

EDDIE ("Peanut") WARD
Retired Oil Field Worker

TYLERTOWN, Miss.-- Eddie ("Peanut") Ward Jr. died at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg 22 Nov., aged 66.

Eddie was born 21 July, 1931 in Lawrence County, Ms., son of Edward ("Edd") Ward Sr. and Gladys Ard. He was a retired oil field worker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Verda Faye Griffin Ward.

Burial was in the Boyd Cemetery in the Salem Community.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Sue Ward Cooper, Kentwood, La.; son, Ralph Nelson Ward, Foxworth, Ms.; sisters, Wilma Ward Breeland, Sandy Hook, Faye Ward Buchanan, Darbun, Evelyn Ward Louge, Columbia and Carol June Ward Bourque, Franklin, La.; brothers, Jerry Ward, Monahans, Tx. and Neal Ward, Tylertown; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

Dies at Age 96 in SC

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC-- Beatrice Sanford Ward died at her home here 4 Jan., aged 96.

Beatrice was born in New Cumberland, W. Va. She was a volunteer nurse's aid during World War II. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Burial was in New Cumberland.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Miller; son, Arthur Ward, both of Goose Creek, SC; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grand-children.

Retired Blue Ribbon Worker

COLUMBUS, Ga.-- Lewie Winfred Ward died here at St. Francis Hospital 16 Feb., aged 74.

Lewie was born 12 July, 1922 in Dale County, near Newville, Ala., son of Hubert Lee Ward and Maggie Mae Newsome. He was a grandson of Minnie Lee Ward, great grandson of William J. Ward and Sarah Henrietta Howell and great great grandson of John G. Ward and Eleanor Riley.

Lewie was a retired worker with Blue Ribbon Foods Service here.

Burial was in Parkhill Cemetery here.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Ward, Columbus; daughters Mildred Ward Catrett, Smiths, Al. and Marie Ward Peters, Columbus; sons Jerry Ward, Fort Mitchell, Al. and Mike Ward, Smiths; sisters, Bonnie Ward Blakenship, Newville, Al. And Hazel Jackson, Berry, Al.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

Widow of William C. Ward<.FONT>

EUFAULA, Ala.-- Refa Lane Ward of Eufaula died 12 May.

Refa was the widow of William C. Ward. She was the daughter of Arthur Lee and Mary Pearl Lane. She was a retired worker with Tom Huston Peanut Co. in Columbus, Ga. after 25 years.

Burial was in Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, Ga.

Survivors include daughters Elaine Ward Snellgrove, Ozark, Al. and Sandra Ward Perrett, Prattville, Al.; brother, Garnett Lane, Buena Vista, Ga.; 8 granddaughters; 3 great grandsons and one great grand-daughter.

Retired Ft. Benning Civil Service Worker

COLUMBUS, Ga.-- Donnie Allen Ward died here 19 June at his residence, aged 63.

Donnie was born 29 Dec., 1933 in Columbus, son of Luther Douglas Ward and Irma Estelle Allen. He was a veteran of the US Navy.

Donnie was retired from Civil Service. He had been a planner/estimator and electri-cian at Fort Benning here. He was a Mason and member of Midland Masonic Lodge #144.

Burial was in Parkhill Cemetery here.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Clark Ward; daughter, Donna Ward Wells, Valdosta, Ga.; son, Allen Ward, Savannah, Ga.; sister, Barbara Ward Thomas, Columbus; 4 grandchildren, Rita Jean Wells and Sandra Wells, both of Valdosta and Tyler and Hunter Ward, both of Savannah.

Native of Horry County, SC

WAMPEE, SC-- Julius James Ward died 5 Dec. in a Myrtle Beach hospital, aged 74.

Julius was born in Horry County, son of E. Vinson Ward and Clara Watson. He was a member of Wampee Methodist Church.

Entombment was in North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Ward; daughter Brooke Ward, Wampee; son, Vinson Ward, Myrtle Beach.


MEMPHIS, Tn.--James L. Ward died at Baptist Memorial Hospital East here 23 May, aged 84.

James was retired and a member of Audobon Park Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Hatley Ward; daughter Rita Eaheart, Memphis; son, Ernie Ward, Jackson, Tn.; sisters Irene Henderson and Ruth Kelley, both of Dresden, Tn. and Luna Bowlin, Albuquerque, NM; and a grandson.

Dies In Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.-- Juanita Jackson Ward died here 15 Apr., aged 85.

Virginia was one of 13 children of Charlie Mann Jackson and Elizabeth Cobb. He was the mother of the late Jane J. Edwards. Burial was in Severn Cemetery, Severn, NC.

Survivors include a sister, Alice J. Sykes, Kill Devil Hills, NC; granddaughters Patricia H. Jones and jane Marie Davis, both of Jackson, NC; 4 great granddaughters, Stephanie Marie Martin, Wendy Gay Bryant, Jennifer Lynn Jones and Danielle Marie Davis.
