Woodham History Books

* * Woodham Family Books * *

The Woodham Family Association has published three books and our Historian is working on publishing several more on Woodham Family history. If you want to know about your Woodham family history and your living relatives, these will help. They are the result of 50 years of personal interviews and research in courthouses, state archives and libraries all over Dixie by our Woodham Historian, Robert Earl Woodham. Our first publication was a small booklet giving a brief history of the family which was published by the Woodham Family Association in 1980 at the urging of kinfolk at the first National Reunion the year before. It was followed by a Photo Album and in 1985, by the Woodham Family Index.

The following books will be printed as soon as we can get more xerox copies from England to print in the books. That takes time because our historian no longer works and is surviving on a Social Security check of $545 a month...that doesn't leave any for buying expensive documents from England. Our historian has discovered so many records that he had to split the information into more than one book. All these will be printed and put into looseleaf notebooks. We cannot afford to print bound copies because of the large cost and the small number who are interested. Only the number of copies which have been ordered and paid for will be printed. No funds are available to print extra copies.

Woodham Family History, Vol. I
This book will be the first ever on the history of our earliest English ancestors. It will contain an account of our family's origins in England and trace Woodham's, Woodhams (with an S), Wadham, Wadhams and other spellings back in time to the 1300's. A great deal of research has also gone into the origin and meaning of our family name which will appear in the book. Cost: $50 (for new orders)

Woodham Family History, Volume II
this is a companion book to Volume I and contains family group sheets on individual families to help understand family descent better. Cost: $50

The following books have been published over the last 20 years by the
Woodham Family Association

Woodham Family History
(an introduction), printed 1980. This is a small booklet printed during our first year at the urging of relatives who wanted to know how we are all related. It was meant to show how all the Woodham's scattered in various sections of the South are descended from one couple and that we are all part of one family. The booklet contains about 40 pages. Cost: $15

Woodham Family Photo Album, Volume I
Printed 1980. This 143 page book contains a variety of photos of Woodham relatives from all over the nation. The oldest photo printed was one of a Woodham couple taken on their wedding day in the 1870's and ranged in age up to some taken during our first Woodham Family National Reunion. The book was printed on a quick copy printer and the quality of the reprinted pictures is not high but certainly good enough to help preserve them. Cost: $30 NOTE: this book is out of print and no longer available.

Woodham Family Index
Printed 1985. This is a very unique type of family index, invented by our family historian over a period of many years. It originally was intended to be the index of a book he hoped to write some day. As it progressed, he kept adding information to it, finally creating a very unique type of family index. Kinfolks who saw it at our first reunion began urging that it be printed as a book so all our relatives could use it to help trace their ancestry. The current edition has almost 8,000 Woodhams and their wives listed--all descendants of the same couple. It is probably the most important book about our family that you could have. It allows you to figure out how you are related to any other Woodham from Dixie. Cost: $35
