OLIVE BRANCH, Miss.--Helen Woodham died here 2 May 2000, aged 83.
Helen was born in Ellisville, Miss., the daughter of Earl Harley ("Horace") Woodham Jr. and Elsie Edith Herrington. Her father died in 1942.
Helen had lived in Memphis, Tn. for many years where she worked as a secretary. Her mother lived there with her until her death in 1982. She had two sisters, Hazel Eloise and Dorothy Earl.

Helen was a granddaughter of Edward Harley ("Ned") Woodham Sr. and Mary Susan Gray. She was a great granddaughter of Aris Bryant Woodham and Hester Ann Simmons. Aris Bryant moved from Dale County, Al. in the 1830's and eventually settled in Newton, Miss. She was a gg granddau of Athanasius Woodham and Mary Ann Kelly; ggg granddau of Aris Woodham Sr. and Rachel Beasley; gggg granddau of Edward Woodham Jr. and Mary.

Widow of Noted Teacher, Principal
HARTFORD, Ala.--Mrs. Mabel Lucille Hathaway Woodham died 25 Apr., aged 90. She was the widow of Theodore ("Theo") Woodham.
Mable was born 4 Dec 1909 at Black in Geneva County, Al., daugher of William Walter Hathaway and Mary Elizabeth Austin. She attended schools in Geneva County. Mable married Theo in 1934. They had three daughters and a son. Theo was a teacher and principal in Alabama schools for 42 years until his retirement as assistant principal of Geneva County High School. He was also a farmer.

Survivors include daughters Judith Woodham Rosseau, Patsy Woodham Thomley and Angelyn Woodham Burgess; and son John Hathaway Woodham, Riverdale, Ga.; and several grandchildren.

Mrs. OVIE THOMAS WOODHAM
Dies in Milton, Florida
PACE, Fla.--Mrs. Lucille Lorelle Martin Woodham died here 10 June, aged 76. She was the widow of Ovie Thomas Woodham who died in 1977.
Lucille was born 3 Mar 1924 in Covington County, Al., daughter of Lee Otis Martin and Willie Mae Riley. She married Ovie in 1964 and they had one daughter. She and her daughter moved to Pace, Florida in the early 1980's.
Lucille had been a member of the Woodham Family Association.

HUGH H. JEFFORDS
Husband of Margery L. Woodham
BISHOPVILLE, SC--Hugh Hamilton Jeffords, 77, former mayor of Bishopville, died March 7 at McLeod Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Margery Louise Woodham.
He was born January 14, 1923 in Florence, SC, son of Marion Lee Muldrow and Thomas Leroy Jeffords, Sr. Hugh graduated from Tans Bay High School and attended Presbyterian College. He served with the US Army during World War II in Europe.
For many years he was an insurance broker, representing primarily World Insurance Co., and American Family Life (AFLAC).
Hugh was elected Mayor of Bishopville in 1976, and in 1980 he served as president of Santee-Lynches Council of Governments. During his tenure as mayor he secured funds to build a new city hall and enlarge the police department. This building bears his name.
He was very active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, serving Robert E. Lee Post No. 29 as commander two consecutive terms as well as other offices in the organization.
He was a life member of Bishopville Masonic Lodge No. 104, a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. He was a member of Bishopville Presbyterian Church and the Lee County Historical Society.
Mr. Jeffords was an avid golfer and sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a former member of the Bishipville Country Club where he served as a member of the board of directors and also as president of the board.
Burial was in the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery here.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margery Louise Woodham Jeffords; sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Lisa Jeffords of Dalzell, SC, Patrick and Luan Jeffords of Bishopville and David and Carol Jeffords of Quinby, SC; grand- children, Jill and Kate Jeffords, Patrick, Caroline and Chloe Jeffords, Nicholas and Weston Jeffords, and Danielle and Heath Jeffords.
A daughter, Merideth Jane Jeffords, died in 1952. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Muldrow and T. L. Jeffords, Jr., and a sister, Roberta Shipp Barbour.
