East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, Cemetery Inscriptions

The following transcriptions were taken from the book East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana Cemetery Inscriptions, which is in the collection of a Covington, Louisiana Library. Most of the transcriptions come from copies Madge made at the library, and a few she had written down by hand. At one time Madge thought that the Mary E., daughter of Elias and Catherine, was her great great grandmother. The information in the cemetery transcriptions indicate that she is not Madge's relative, but was the wife of Dr. Perkins.

"I don't know how old this book was; I didn't think to check the copyright at the time. I have no clue wha the capital 'M.' near Abel J. Norwood's name is about; that's how it was in the book. The only change I made in my transcription was to use a number for the month instead of typing the month out. I kept it like it was put in the book. i.e. the information going straight across. The information about the cemetery near "Clarence Jackson's" place I put on two lines, dates under each name, because I was afraid that the line would jump down.

"When I thought this was my branch of the family I did find out that three of Samuel Norwood and Martha Pattie Waddell's children are listed on these pages. I put asteriks by their names."

Samuel Norwood
born 1758 in Darlington, SC
married 1785 to Martha Pattie Waddell
died before July 07, 1817 in Wilkinson Co., MS
Father: Theophilus Norwood
Mother: Margaret Dawson

Martha Pattie Waddell
born oct. 6/1768 in New Kent, VA
died WFT Est. 1807-1863
Father: Charles Waddell
Mother: Mary

Those names were not in the cemeteries they are what the "Cajun" call lagniappe (pronounced lan-yap) which means, something for nothing, similar to a baker's dozen. I got that info from the LDS Ancestral File. I have more if you need them.
