John Kennedy was campaigning for the office of President in October of 1960. The campaign trail brought him to Kittanning, the county seat 3 miles north of Ford City. Our Dad, Edward, was there with his twin lens reflex camera and recorded the event on Market Street that October afternoon. The band was playing; kids were getting klondikes from the nearby Isaly's, the crowd was enthusiastic, and no one dreamed that three years later John Kennedy would be murdered in Texas.
Dad climbed up a flight of steps and yelled, "Jack!" to get the one shot of JFK looking up. Oswald later would be looking down from a similar vantage point.
