Nathaniel Tilden 1583-1641
Nathaniel Tilden, his wife, Lydia(Huckstep) and children arrived in Plymouth Colony aboard the "Hercules" in February 1634.In the book,"History of Marshfield", by Lysander Richards, it states:" Elder Nathaniel Tilden was the ancestor of nearly all the Tildens in Marshfield, Massachusetts. He was one of three brothers, who were called the "Men of Kent", from England. He came to Scituate, Massachusetts in 1628 and purchased that portion called "Two Mile" tract, now known as North Marshfield, Massachusetts. His farm extended both sides of the North River, part of it being on "Gravelly Beach"." Other acounts of Elder Nathaniel, state that the "Men of Kent" had arrived back in late 1620's to secure land before the family came to America.
Nathaniel Tilden was born July 28, 1583 in Terdon, Kent County, England and died May 25, 1641 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony, Ma. He married Lydia Bourne Huckstep 1605 in Tertondon, Kent County England, daughter of Stephen Huckstep and Winefred Hatch. She was born Feb. 11, 1587/88 in Tenterden, COunty of Kent, England and died July 31, 1672 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony, Ma.
