Critical Assessments of Web Sites

The following form is used when evaluating Web sites:
  1. Where did you choose to go/explore?
  2. What did you do and learn?
  3. How up-to-date is the information in the resource?
  4. How accurate is the information?
  5. How easy is it to search the site? (Can you search the site?)
  6. If the site is searchable, how long did it take you to connect to and get the information in a sample search?
  7. What is the source of the information for the site?
  8. Is the information also found in another format such as paper or CD-ROM? If so how accessible is the other format?
  9. Does the file have a usefulness as a ready reference tool?
  10. Would you willingly access it again? Have you bookmarked/favorited the site?
  11. Can you Power Cerf this site for speed?
  12. Can you access this site with a text only browser/all browsers? Or does it specifically say the site is for Netscape or MIE versions only? Is there a "best viewed by" restriction?
  13. If Image Maps are used: is it all Image Links/Image maps or can you get their via a text menu as well?
  14. Does this site require extra downloads, java able browsers, sound card ability, or any other "special" programs or plug-ins to be able to view it?
  15. How difficult was it to determine the answers to the questions above?
  16. For Web Designers: Is this site CAST compliable?
