IRC, mIRC, MUD

The acronym MUD stands for Multi-User Dungeon or Multi-User Dimension. A MUD is a real-time interactive game that takes place in an imaginary environment where multiple computer users can simultaneously play. To be able to participate in a MUD, you will need to Telnet to a server running a MUD. You connect to the MUD by using the telnet command (verus the http:// command) and specifying the MUD's network address and port number. Using a search engine, you can easily generate a list of the currently available MUDs. Or try one of these two links:
Another way to connect to a mUD is to use a MUD client, a downloadable program that functions like Telnet but provides a much more user-friendly interface. Clients are designed to run on specific operating systems so if you want to install one, make sure it is compatible with your system.
