WWW Chat Groups
When signing into a chat room for the first time, you are asked to select a username and password. You may create any username (or nickname) that you like providing it is not already in use.

Once you have signed in with a chat service, you can select a "room" to go to. You will usually have an extensive choice of topics. In many chat rooms a menu bar is supplied that displays the usernames of all the other people in the chat room. Sometimes another menu bar lets you select an emotion to accompany your message. Several buttons are provided which are used to submit your message, go to another chat room, refresh your screen, etc. You can usually find people chatting at all hours.

To practice using a Chat Room you can use the Class Chatroom available to all students. Send an email to the instructor requesting a time to meet and practice using this sample chat room. NOTE: You must be java enabled to run this program.
