The Web Publishing Concepts and Design - Part I course teaches the creation of web pages using good web design concepts, basic HTML language, assessing between web authoring software,
creating and editing web pages, creating links between and within web pages, inserting, sizing,
aligning, and linking images, the parts of an HTML document and block and character formatting.
Using the UACN provider From On Campus
If you will be accessing the classroom from on campus, the on duty lab technicians can assist you in Accessing the Virtual Classroom from either a MAC, Windows 95, or Windows 3.x machine. Go directly to Assignments - Section One: Guides and Tutorials.
Using the UACN provider From Home
If you will be using the UACN from home you should already have successfully configured your particular machine. If you have successfully connected to UACN cerf to the Online Classroom. Once there start directly with Assignments - Guides and Tutorials.
The course is self-paced, continuous enrollment, fifteen week, one credit, with pass/fail/audit assessment
options.
Grading
There is only pass or fail (audit optional) for this course. To pass
you must successfully complete all of the exercises,
within 15 weeks of registration and have FUN. If a student doesn't
successfully complete an exercise, they will be notified
by e-mail and requested to resubmit it. There will be no written tests.
Student Status and Assignment Sheets
The Student Section is located at: http://www.shuilongs.com/students/students.html. Here you will find your online Student Status links, connections with other students, feedback and assessment forms, the Grading System and a way to find your UACN PID.
Each section has link sites and corresponding questions to be answered/tasks to be completed. The assignments are what you need to "turn-in" electronically. This requires a message with the answers be sent to the facilitator (instructor) at ecpatt@ptialaska.net. Assignments should be sent to the instructor with the Class Number and Section clearly
marked. Make sure the web URL is complete and in correct case. Make sure that you sign the bottom of each email.There is no need to rewrite the questions in your email. As long as the class number, chapter and section are clearly marked you need only write the answers.

This class is set up to help you develop
the self directive skills necessary to continue to learn about the ever changing Internet
Technology, explore new personalized web capabilities, and troubleshoot problems
that occur (and they will) when you begin to branch out on your own (and you will). There
are no problems in this class, only opportunities to find solutions
to situations. As the last solution to any frustration you encounter, you ask the instructor
by loudly screaming 911 - HEEEEEELP! in the subject title of an
email message. Sometimes the instructor may have to go looking for
the answer with you. That's the way the Internet is!!!
Do not abuse the 911 - Heeeeeeelp! Remember that before you ask a question you should
have exhausted every resource looking for the answer. There
is a reason for this, and you will have the chance to tell me
why you think that is on the class evaluation form. At the completion of the class you have the chance to give your
personal and honest feedback about the course, the method of
instruction and the pass/fail condition. (AHEM- no cheating and
going to the feedback form first.) This course fluidly changes
and your comments are greatly appreciated and often put instantly
to use.
Above all remember these words of wisdom: You are learning a new "language" and many new "programs" when
you take this course. Be patient with yourself.
