Welcome to the UAS-Sitka CIOS 246 Advanced Internet Course!

Your classroom menu, assignment guide, Facilitator (guide/instructor), communication information, instructors schedule, class chat room, and student services are all located on the internet! The Virtual Classroom is accessable through any World Wide Web Browser connected to the Internet.

This Virtual Classroom was created by The Facilitator as an Open Entry/Open Exit Flex class. It is dedicated to locating and using the latest in Internet Technology, understanding and configuring Networks , finding and applying Web Page Authoring resources, and using wise critical assessment skills to choose and set up an Internet Web Site.

To get to your classroom you must be able to access the World Wide Web from any computer connected to the Internet. Your should already have access and be connected to an Internet Service Provider.

To send and receive assignments you must have an email address. This can be your temporary UACN email address, your own Internet Service Provider's email address for you, or a Web address.

We recommend that you set up a permanent web address along with the personal web site you create. Many free Web Site Hosts are available for you to do this with. A few would be:
If you do not know what any of the above means, do not have your computer configured with your ISP, or do not know how to use your Internet system, then this is not the class for you. You may need the CIOS 100 or CIOS 145 classes. A completed and submitted Student Needs Assessment will help to assess your level. If you have any other questions you may give me a call at my home/office phone number. Please call during normal business hours, 10-5 Monday through Thursday if at all possible. For general help for Distance Students, contact Sue or Naomi in the administration office at 747-7727. In Fairbanks the Distance Education office can be reached by contacting Heidi Olson at fnhco@uaf.edu or calling 474-5121.
