Accessing WWW using Lynx Text Browser

• Logon to your account with the ACAD1 server.
• Once you are at the $ prompt, you are ready to continue.
• To enter the Lynx WWW Text Only program enter WWW at the $ prompt. You should see footer prompt that looks similiar to this:
  • Commands: Use arrow keys to move, '?' for help, "q" for quit, '<--' go back.
  • Arrow keys: Up and Down to move. Right to follow a link. Left to go back.
  • H)elp O)ptions P)rint G)o M)ain screen Q)uit /=search
• You are now ready to explore the WWW using the Lynx text only browser.
  *note: There are some sites that you will not be able to access as they require a PPP connection and a Multi-media browser such as Netscape or the Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Lynx Navigating Commands

    Key                    Action

      BASIC KEYS
    Up/Down Arrows         Highlight the previous/next topic.
    Space or +             Display the next screen.
    - or b                 Display the previous screen.
    Return or Rt. arrow    Open the highlighted topic.
    Left Arrow             Return to previous topic.
    M                      Go back to the main screen.
    q                      Quit WWW (and verify).
    Q                      Quit WWW immediately. 
      SEARCHING
    /                      Search for an item in the current      
                           document.
    n                      Go to the next search string.
    s                      Enter a search string for an external  
                           search.
      MISCELLANEOUS
    ? or H                 Get On-line help. 
    G                      Open a new URL.
    Backspace/Delete       Display the History page.
    P                      Save, print, or mail a file.  
    O                      Set options within WWW.
    c                      Send a comment to the document owner.
    d                      Download the current link.
    e                      Edit the current file.
    i                      Show an index of documents.
    z                      Cancel transfer in progress.
    =                      Show file and link info.
    \                      Toggle document source/rendered view.
    !                      Spawn to VMS (LO to return). 
    CTRL-R                 Reload current file and refresh the    
                           screen.
    CTRL-W                 Refresh the screen.
    CTRL-U                 Erase input line.
    CTRL-G                 Cancel input or transfer.
      BOOKMARKS
    a                      Add the current link to your bookmark  
                           file.
    v                      View your bookmark file.
