Wealdstone FC A New Dawn
The 1995/96 season began a new era for the Club as they rejoined the Isthmian League in division 3 (a further voluntary relegation Of 2 divisions) which they had left in 1971, and at the same time, moved in with Edgware Town F.C. who had agreed to share facilities at their White Lion Ground. This has resulted in much improved attendances for Wealdstone.
All debts had been cleared and the club had now come out of administration. The inspired appointment of the experienced Gordon Bartlett as manager from Yeading and his coaching team of Leo Morris and Frank O'Brien bodes well for the future.
After finishing fourth in Division Three and just failing to gain promotion in their first season back in the Isthmian League, they became Division Three League Champions the following season (1996/97) needing to win at promotion chasing Northwood to fend the chasing Braintree Town. Wealdstone scoring twice in the last 10 minutes to win 3-1 in a close finish. Last season the Club made it two promotions in successive years by finishing third in Division Two, five points clear of fourth placed Bedford Town, a nail biting finish to the season.
During the last few seasons a successful youth policy has been introduced and teams from Under 9's up to Under 15's are now in existence. There is also a Mini-League for boys and girls aged 6-9. It was from a previous youth set-up that Stuart Pearce started his football career with Wealdstone before going on to play for Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and England. Wealdstone are hopeful that some of these youngsters will progress to the First team in years to come with possibly another Stuart Pearce emerging. Wealdstone F.C. are also hopeful that a new ground of their own will become a reality before too long.
