SRI VAISHNAVA SEVA SAMITI

Executive Summary

Sri Vaishnava Seva Samithi (SVSS) has been established to support Vedic studies, Divya Desams (Temples) and Sri Vaishnava mutts in India that are in an awful state due to sporadic and insufficient funds and due to lack of administration in a few cases. SVSS objective is to support the causes with your generous contributions through automatic bank transactions.  Sri Vaishnavism related causes in India will be reviewed, considered and supported independent of sampradayams, regional or geographical location.  We are leaving it to the individuals for determining the recipients. Our role is to facilitate a stream-lined process.

SVSS Mission

1. Nurture Sri Vaishnava institutions and causes in India on a regular basis with financial support.  These institutions cannot survive  with sporadic donations.

2. Facilitate maintenance and renovation of Divya Desams. Sri Vaishnava temples that are living monuments of our culture are deserted, with occasional visits from just a priest, who has several other jobs in addition to part time work at these temples.

3. Support Vedic and Visistadwaitha studies back in India which has reached an all time record low. About a decade ago, there were only 78 scholars in India who really knew our tradition and philosophy.  Today, only a handful of scholars is keeping up with this tradition, which will result in the loss of our traditional knowledge and identity within 30-40 years.

4. Fund publication of Sri Vaishnava philosophy books and commentaries authored by our Acharyas. The rich scriptural texts published by great scholars are quickly becoming extinct.

5. Infuse life to the already dwindling priest population.  Sponsor Sri Vaishnava priests and scholars well versed in Sri Ramanuja Siddhantha to visit USA and enlighten us.

6. Make available to Libraries, Universities and temples in the US, the books on Sri Vaishnava philosophy published in India,  sponsor Vedic study research in a US university, contribute and sponsor special religious festivals and conferences in the Sri Vaishnava temples in the United States.
