About Me
Want to know even more about me, eh? Aren't you a curious one...
As mentioned in the intro., I'm 32 years old and I've always been attracted to role playing games, dragons, and other creatures. And as mentioned in the video clips page, my favorite genre of movies and books is horror. I like some sci-fi movies/TV shows too.
I have a small on-going interest in science and technology. The AIBOs Sony has developed (artificial intelligence robots) are the neatest things! Been working with computers since 1990 - remember the 386 PCs? That was my first computer but I have moved onto Macs since 1995.
I have a special fascination with sharp shiny lethal things...read: swords and daggers (haaaahaaahaaaa!!! - webmaster laughing like a lunatic). I have a collection of them. Well, not really. I would have a collection if I had the money to burn. My sword/dagger collection consists of an officially licensed Highlander TV Series replica katana, the Paul Chen Practical Plus set (katana, wakizashi, and tanto), a Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Sephiroth Masamune replica (would describe it as "a katana made for giants", awesome replica despite its flaws and inaccuracies to the movie), a small tacky ugly "imitation katana" which was bought as a souvenir in Japan by someone who meant well though I seriously question her asthetic taste in picking this one...complete rip-off at about $50 (U.S. Dollars) too but since she doesn't know anything about swords it's understandable she'd be duped (I bet it was made in China but I swear it's not even on the same level of quality as the usual cheap display swords made in China, looks like a kid's toy sword - for a laugh, you can look at it here), and 2 European-style fantasy sword letter openers. Kind of funny - when I unsheathed the Highlander to show a former penpal the blade, she got nervous. This was in 1995 or 1996 when the Highlander was my only sword, or else I would have shown her the Paul Chen katana because the Highlander and Masamune are only display swords. She sighed a big relief when I put it back in. It wasn't like I was swinging it around like an idiot, esp. without training. What was funnier was that she literally towered over me. She was about 6'1" and I'm only about 5'4". Not that height affects how "brave" you are but what was I going to do? Cut into her kneecaps? ;) ...though I admit that would *really* hurt. Just the image of a really tall person cringing when facing a relatively short person is funny. Ah, swords, the great equalizer...LOL. She couldn't understand how I could feel safe with it hanging on the wall or with it even being in the house. All swords are hanging, sheathed, on the wall right next to my bed, but there's a gap between the wall and the bed. Guess all that mattered to her was that swords were originally made for killing people. My take on them is that they're also beautiful, and in more than a macabre sense. Guess it's the same for gun collectors, but for me a gun would never be as beautiful. Even though swords are "outdated" (gun-wielding person vs. sword-wielding person, sword-wielder would be dead unless he/she snuck up from behind or if the gun-wielder had incredibly bad aim), there's a kind of mysticism about a sword.
I've put together a buyer's guide for swords here.
Have been into art (mostly drawing, some painting) for my whole life ever since I was in 1st grade, although not nearly as much since I graduated college. College basically made me lose interest in my own artwork and most other art. I did well but it got old and an incompetent teacher didn't help matters. I would use an expletive to describe the teacher, as I hated him with a passion and still do, but I'll be "kind". Someday, maybe I'll be able to enjoy art again, who knows?
Personality-wise, I've always been a loner and probably too independent for my own good. It's really hard for me to ask for help for anything, and I sometimes get annoyed when people help me. If you want to go with personality types, I'm an ISTJ from various Myers-Briggs Type online tests. I always got the same result, ISTJ, from the various sites. I think it describes me pretty well but I don't think I'm quite as Type-A personality that some descriptions say because I don't organize my socks in alphabetical order by color ;). I'm also not as obsessed with following orders from "superiors", as the forementioned incompetent teacher found out. I just said "screw it" when he pushed too hard. I'd probably be mostly classified as a geek according to this webpage but at least *I* know I'm cool ;).
I saw a profile question page on another Yu-Gi-Oh! website and thought it might be fun for others to read. Normally, I find these annoying in e-mails but as long as I don't have to answer dumb questions, it's fine. As I'm picking the questions myself, I won't find it dumb ;).
Q: Which Yu-Gi-Oh! millennium item would you want if you were to have one?
A: The millennium eye. Although, I wouldn't go as far as gouging my own eye out if the powers would work just by having it. The millennium puzzle and ring would be interesting but I wouldn't want to share my body with a spirit who, no doubt, would be able to know when I'm going to the bathroom and such.
Q: Which Yu-Gi-Oh! character are you most like personality-wise?
A: Definately Seto Kaiba. Fiercely independent/loner, loyal, serious/tolerates no bull, and not spiritual. We're almost twins except I'm not flamboyant.
Q: Which Yu-Gi-Oh! character are you most like physically-wise?
A: Since I'm female, guess I'll have to pick a female character. Ishizu, because we have the same hair - no bangs, long, cut straight on the bottom, and black.
Q: Which Yu-Gi-Oh! character do you think is the dumbest?
A: Bones. He's such a coward. Though, I loved the expression on his face when Yami Bakura called out the Headless Knight during the Battle City tournament, LOL. He's good for a laugh at least. (sorry to any Bones fans out there, this is just my personal opinion)
Q: What are the themes of your Yu-Gi-Oh! decks or which types of monsters do you like playing with the most?
A: Dragons, spellcasters, and fiends. Although, if any other monsters have useful effects, I'll use them regardless of what types they are.
Q: What's your favorite food?
A: Chicken curry (made with just the breast meat) with rice.
Q: Pepsi or Coca-Cola?
A: Pepsi. I like Coca-Cola too, in fact I like almost any fizzy beverage ;), but Pepsi's less sweet. Actually, my favorite soda is Dr Pepper.
Q: How do you sleep?
A: On my side in a fetal position (one of my blankets is too short) facing the wall with my elbows bent and one hand under my cheek. Usually wake lying on top of my bent arms in the morning - ouch.
Q: Who are your favorite artists? (drawing, painting, etc.)
A: Manga/Anime - Kazuki Takahashi and CLAMP is in a tie with him
"Traditional Art" - Salvador Dali
Q: What's your favorite animal?
A: Wolves. But I hate most dogs - find them annoying because they bark at everything.
Q: What's your Western astrology sign? Chinese animal?
A: Western - Leo
Chinese - Hare/Rabbit (element - wood)
Funny how they seem like they're complete opposites of each other, eh? In addition, Leos are associated with the sun and Rabbits are associated with the moon.
Q: What do you collect/used to collect?
A: Too much stuff. Used to collect stamps, stickers, Transformers, Gundam model kits, Harley-Davidson motorcycle die-cast/models, Cardcaptors trading game cards, fantasy sculptures, etc.. Now I "collect" my favorite TV and anime series on DVD, manga graphic novels (Yu-Gi-Oh! and RG Veda), Final Fantasy resin statues/action figures (just FFVII and FFVII Advent Children, only have 4 resin statues/action figures - Sephiroth and Vincent - but I'm just about done), Yu-Gi-Oh! trading game cards (but haven't bought any new cards for a few years), and full-size swords (done collecting movie/TV/game replicas so it's on to additional functional swords, esp. katana - my favorite kind of sword by far, which usually cost a small fortune - $700+ for the middle to high-end ones).
Q: What's a little-known fact about yourself?
A: My temper's akin to a nuclear bomb. People have described me as looking like an angel/innocent and they would never expect an outburst (or worse) from me. I am quiet and reserved normally. "Angelic-looking" but at the same time voted "most likely to become an axe-murderer", LOL. One in my small circle of friends in middle school and high school kept joking that I would become an axe-murderer when I grew up because I'm quiet and have a stoic facial expression most of the time.
