1. From II Samuel 7:12-17 define these words: house, throne, kingdom, and perpetuity. These verses say "And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David." David’s house will be forever. He will be given a throne to suggest his authority. It will be his kingdom, and it will continue throughout perpetuity. These are the elements of the Davidic Covenant.
2. What "David" will sit on the Millennium throne? It could be someone like David, it could be a descendant of David’s, or it could be the literal, historic David. Dr. Towns believes the latter view is correct.
3. What will be the role of the apostles and judges? The apostles will be rulers under David, and the judges will be rulers under the apostles.
4. Who will be the subjects in the Millennium? Israel will be returned to the land, and Gentiles who survived the Tribulation will be Israel’s servants (Isaiah 14:1-2).
5. Is the Millennium Temple the same as the Tribulation Temple? The Tribulation Temple will be destroyed during the Battle of Armageddon. According to Ezekiel 40:48, a new temple will be built for the Millennium.
6. What temple did Ezekiel see in Ezekiel 40-46? The Millennium Temple. His view of the Temple was about twice the size of the original Temple, so he was definitely seeing something that was different. It will be the ideal temple which the Jews should have built.
7. What is the purpose of the Millennium Temple? It will demonstrate God’s holiness, provide a dwelling place for divine glory, perpetuate the Memorial of Sacrifice, be a center for divine government, and provide water for the healing of the land.
8. Will there be literal animal sacrifice in the Millennium? What is the purpose of these sacrifices? Dr. Towns believes that there will be and that their purpose will be as a memorial of the Old Testament sacrifices. These sacrifices will be much like the Lord’s Table for the church.
9. What are the differences/similarities between the worship in the Millennium temple and Solomon's temple? Some similarities are that there will be an altar, a meal or grain offering, a morning sacrifice. They will observe the Feast of Tabernacles and Passover. There will not be an evening sacrifice, and they will not observe Pentecost. God’s glory will dwell in the whole Temple, rather than just in the holy of holies. There will be a new land distribution, no holy of holies, no Aaron’s rod, and the new Temple will be much larger.
10. How will God purge evil at the end of the Millennium? According to Revelation 20:2-9, Satan will be released for a season at the end of the Millennium. Those who were born during the Millennium will have an opportunity to reject Christ, and some will. It will be a final test of obedience, and the result will be the White Throne judgment.
