Richard Carson (???? - 8 Oct 1808). Very little has been determined about Richard. His death date is noted in the family bible of his grandson, Joseph Carson. He lived in Dauphin Co, PA and was probably a Revolutionary War veteran, possibly serving with a brother, George Carson. A Richard Carson married Christine Graham in Dauphin, however, there is only speculation that these Richards are one and the same.
John Carson (20 Aug 1799 at Ohio Co, VA - 18 Oct 1862, same) never married. He is buried at the old Three Ridges Presbyterian churchyard at West Alexander, PA.
Richard Carson (circa 1775 at Dauphin Co, PA - 6 Feb 1813 at Delaware, OH) married in Oct 1798 at Lower Paxtang Parish, Dauphin Co, Elizabeth Irwin (7 Mar 1779 at County Tyrone, Ireland - 8 Apr 1843 at Ohio Co, VA). Richard and Elizabeth migrated circa 1799 to the frontier of Ohio Co, VA where they purchased a large farm. During the War of 1812, Richard volunteered into the Virginia Militia and served in the campaign to take the British fort at Sandusky, OH. He died during the march home and was buried in Delaware Co, OH. Richard served under his good friend, Lt. William Faris. The two men made a pact that if either were killed during the war, the other would take care of his comrade's family. True to his word, Lt. Faris married Elizabeth Irwin Carson on 20 Oct 1814, after the passing of his 1st wife, Susannah Curtis. At one point, Elizabeth was in charge of 18 children: seven of hers, ten of his, and one of theirs! She is buried at the old Three Ridges Presbyterian churchyard at West Alexander, PA.
Joseph Carson (21 Aug 1801 at Ohio Co, VA - 24 Jul 1887, same) married on 19 Mar 1829, Anna Brown, daughter of William Brown and Hannah Milligan. Joseph and Anna settled on the farm established by his father near West Alexander, PA where they reared a large family. They were active members in the Three Ridges Presbyterian Church of West Alexander, where Joseph was an elder. Both are buried in the West Alexander Memorial Cemetery.
Elizabeth Irwin Carson (9 Feb 1830 at Ohio Co, VA - 30 Oct 1918 at Longmont, CO) married on 28 Jun 1852 at Ohio Co, Rev. His parents moved to Marshall Co, VA and as a youth, he attended the Academy of West Alexander. Robert then attended Washington College, graduating in the Class of 1849, and was ordained as a Presbyterian minister on 10 Nov 1853. He became the pastor of the North Sangamon Presbyterian church at Menard Co, IL. He also served as a chaplain in the Union army during the Civil War and became partially disabled. For reasons of health, he gave up his church in 1866 and began traveling as a missionary. At various times Robert and Elizabeth lived in several towns in Illinois, throughout the great lakes region, in Cuba and the West Indies, in British Columbia and Oregon. In his obituary, it is noted that he was a personal friend of Abraham Lincoln.

James Harvey was a farmer and also started a shoe retailing business, J. H. Milligan and Sons, at Bellaire in 1881. He was elected to the office of Trustee for Pultney Twp, and served in that capacity for two terms.

He was a missionary and evangelist in Missouri, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi during the years 1879 through 1892. Between 1892 and 1896 he was the pastor of a church at Seymour, TX, then spent the next two years doing missionary work in Arkansas. After being injured in a train "disaster" in 1899, he retired to the home of his brother, John Irwin Carson. He died as a result of his injuries and was buried at Memorial Cemetery in West Alexander, PA. John never married.

After settling for a while in the West Alexander, PA area, they moved to Illinois. W. V. became a blacksmith and hardware dealer and was a Justice of the Peace at Jasper Co, IA by 1910. Sarah married 2nd before 1904, Mr. Ray and resided at Berwick, IL.

Although their early married life was lived in relative poverty, through investment and speculation, they achieved a comfortable standard of living. Ross Milligan Carson (21 Sep 1876 at Ohio Co, WV - 21 Apr 1936 in California) worked in a bank in Washington, PA. He moved to California after some "irregularities" were discovered at his job.
Glenn Peregrine Carson (24 Jun 1879 at Centralia, Chesterfield Co, VA - 7 Apr 1943 at East Washington, PA) married on 12 Aug 1908 in a lavish affair at the home of his wife's father, Margaret Jane "Madge" Walker (27 Nov 1885 at Washington, PA - 3 Dec 1963 at Finleyville, PA), the daughter of George Thomas Walker and Viola Belle Fulton. G.P. attended Washington & Jefferson College, was an all-star pitcher on the baseball team, and graduated in the Class of 1900. He became an attorney in Washington, PA and was noted for his exceptional singing voice. Madge was a graduate of the Washington Female Seminary and operated a successful real estate business, probably building on the firm established by her father-in-law. Not wishing his daughter to live "without a roof over her head", George Thomas Walker built a house next to his own mansion on East Beau St. and gave it to the couple as a wedding present. Both structures still stand, the mansion having been recently rehabilitated to its former Victorian splendor. G.P. and Madge are buried at the Washington Cemetery.
Muriel Joy "Dot" Carson (8 Oct 1884 at West Alexander, PA - 16 Jul 1961 at Claysville, PA) married Howard Linford Willison (4 Nov 1884 at Washington Co, PA - 1938 at Fredericksburg, VA). Dot is buried in the "new" section of Memorial Cemetery at West Alexander.

He and Salome at times resided in a fashionable section of New York City, where they were neighbors and friends of Norman Rockwell and at their mansion Ballantrae in Fairfax, VA. Aunt Salome was the original family genealogist, and with only one minor instance, her research has proven to be absolutely accurate. She would, I think, have approved of "Jane's Names" which has grown from her few dozen sheets of notes.
Denton Berthold Carson (2 Feb 1898 at Washington Co, PA - 29 Nov 1907 at Washington, PA) died after being struck by a train.
