Gavin Mitchell, born in 1720, died circa 1779 at Newton Twp, Cumberland Co. PA, married Isabella _____, born in 1725, died circa 1791 at Newton Twp. Isabella's maiden name may have been Campbell. Little is known about Gavin and Isabella. He was a farmer and landowner in Cumberland Co. Their children's names are gleaned from probate records and their order of birth is not known. Son-in-Law, Josias Brown was named as executor in both their wills.
Robert Mitchell, born in 1750, died in early 1805 at Ohio Co., VA, married Anne Espy in Cumberland Co., PA. He served in the PA militia during the Revolution under Capt. William Morehead. Robert and Anna migrated to Ohio Co., VA around 1790, probably with Josias Brown and family. All of Robert and Anna's children are named in a Cumberland Co. deed of 8 Oct 1800 and in his will proved 8 Mar 1805.
