I didn't really care for this track too much. It was nice looking on paper but the problem was the slalom was WAY too tight. Other than that the rest of it was good practice. My first run was a 48.5. Over the next 75-85 minutes and 9 more runs I hit a lot of cones and did spun once. But on my last run I managed my best time of the day with a 46.949 and it was a clean run!
Points of interest for the day was Brian Dolan with the 97 Type-R finally got R-tires. 205/50-15's on his stock wheels. His best time was a 48.9 so he's getting closer. I guess I better start looking out for him! Brandon still was able to pull some incredible times in his "not very fast" Civic HX. I believe his best time was a 49.287. I need to drive his car sometime to see if he's a master driver or if his car is just quick on race tires. The fastest clean time I saw from a street car was a 46.0xx done by Gene Greenlee. Steve Ryan I believe got a best of 46.47x. Then of course there's Chuck Voboril in his Zink Go-Cart getting times in the 41 second range (that's the quickest time I saw at least). Victor and Neil didn't run today so I have no benchmark with them but I did finally beat Tom Dukerich in his Miata. I also beat Scott Meyers PAX time if you use 1999 PAX factors for DSP and ES.
A few autocross races ago I met a guy named Brian. He drives a black 99 Mustang Cobra and let me drive his car once to teach him a few things. Well it was a far cry from a smooth run but I did manage to stay somewhat close to the line I wanted and pulled a 51.x second time. I believe a second faster than Brian's best time (and he did 10 runs). I'm definitely going to be an instructor at the next autocross school.
