Great news! Victor is going to be running in the Sportsman class this season so it looks like as long as I can beat Eric S. in his Neon, "CSP Open" will be MINE!!! My car was handling better than ever at this event. I think I'm finally getting the suspension dialed in. There's still a little push but I think once I get the alignment all figured out I will have my hands full just driving the thing. Then I can concentrate on putting go fast goodies on the car starting with the bored out throttle body and a lightened flywheel.

I got 1st place this time but there's not much satisfaction from it because there was only one other person in CSP Open. However all through my first season Eric usually beat me in his Neon on race tires. However now that I too have race tires it looks like the tables have been turned!!! Also, Victor ended up setting top PAX, so my PAX % ended up being 912 which is my best yet. More importantly, my biggest accomplishment too date is that I FINALLY beat my friend Brandon's PAX time! My raw time of 50.924 (PAX 42.980) was just enough to edge out Brandon's time of 54.907 (PAX 43.102). He has been autocrossing since November of 1998 and I started in Dec 1998 and this was the 1st time I've beaten him in PAX times so I'm really happy about that. He says he won't let it happen again, but we shall see!

Like I said Victor is running in the PAX class but I still like to compare our times to gauge how I'm doing. I wasn't nearly as close to his times this race as last events, but he was also driving a different car. Him and Neil Kuhns both drove Neil's car and Victor actually beat him in it! Go figure? Neil is a two time champion at Nationals too! Victor's best time was a 46.458 and Neil's was a 47.202. I've got a WAYS to go before I can even get close enough to touch these guys. I'm almost thinking that the next set of tires I will get the Autox compound vs the Road Race. Then I can get yet ANOTHER set of 15" wheels with Toyo's or something else that lasts a long time. Currently I'm running the road race compound so I can use these one set of R-tires for both track events and autox. If I want to be competitive in Autox it doesn't appear I'm going to be able to do that. I can feel the powers of the dark side pulling me in yet further...
