2/13/00 - The first race of the season and I was not happy with my finish at all. I don't think I had any competition in my class at all so there was no pressure but I'm still not happy with my times. Most of the people that I usually beat were way faster than me. I think I drove fine but I made changes to the suspension and they ended up making the car a lot slower. I increased the negative camber on the car and changed the toe in the rear from a little bit of toe out to zero. I then firmed up the shocks in front all the way as well as the rear. The car had great turn in but the problem was it had TOO much traction in the front and the car got loose in just about every turn. Compounding the problem even further the tire pressure gauge was way off. I didn't realize it until afterwards but the needle pointed at 8psi at rest, so I was about 8psi lower than normal on all my tires. When I learned to anticipate getting loose, pumped up the rear tires and made the shocks in the rear as soft as they would go I knocked about 1.5 seconds off in my time only runs but I still couldn't drive the car as fast as before. I'm going to play with the camber in the rear to help neutral the handling out.
