How to make a mesh bumper grill

Tools/materials needed

I say this is for all Hondas and Acuras but that's sort of a lie. You can but on some bumpers it doesn't look right. On some models like the 92 Accord or 95 Integra there is a piece of plastic that is part of the bumper that goes right through the middle of the grill where the mesh would be.

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about. As you can see it would look funny if you put the mesh in front or behind it. The only way I know of to make it look right is to cut this part out. If you do this then you will need to remould the edges where you cut it off then have the bumper repainted. Either way start off by finding some mesh that you like. Many people use the standard chicken wire which looks okay but I like the triangles and diamond shaped mesh better. You can find this stuff at hardware stores, Home Depot, or wherever. Start off by taking the bumper off the car. From here there are several different ways to do this. Some people cut all the factory black mesh out and lay the mesh in the bumper then fold it back on the edges and use silicon or hot glue to hold it on. Some do the same approach but drill holes in the bumper and loop zip ties through where you can't see them. Then some don't like to cut anything so they cut the mesh to fit the opening then use fishing line looped to the back to hold it on. I personally like to cut the opening completely out then lay it flat from the back and use zip ties. It's much more durable this way. Here are some step by step pictures of my Civic and Integra.
