NOLSW mourns the death of MORGAN ROSE
Morgan Rose (left, with cap backwards) with Gordon Deane
at UAW Constitutional Convention - June 2002
May 20, 2003
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is our very sad duty to report to you that our West Coast
Regional Organizer, Morgan Rose, has died.
His parents found him dead in his Los Angeles apartment on Sunday. The cause of Morgan's death is not known
at this time, but an autopsy is being performed. Morgan was 38 years old.
Morgan was a wonderful, energetic and dedicated Union brother who fought
hard for his clients during his legal services career, and fought hard for his
union brothers and sisters as an NOLSW/UAW Local 2320 Organizer. He will be much missed, and hard to
replace. His sudden death comes as
a shock to all of us who worked with him.
NOLSW Recording Secretary Gordon Deane will be traveling to Los Angeles
tomorrow to begin going through Morgan's work papers, and we will take steps to
distribute Morgan's assignments among the other NOLSW staff until another
Organizer can be recruited and hired.
Members and Units who have hearings or other matters pending upon which
Morgan was working with you, please contact Ellen Wallace, NOLSW President, at
the national office in New York:
1-800-UAW-2320.
To Morgan's family and friends we extend our most sincere sympathy. We will notify you of further
developments as we become aware of them.
It is anticipated that there will be a Union memorial gathering in honor
of Morgan in the future.
In solidarity,
Ellen
Wallace
