it started so innocently...

[ space ] [ space ] [yellow, ain't it?]

i was drumming for a little band called 'the missing link'
the ol' lady worked on her company's 'puter network
just a couple'a nearly-normal psychos gettin' by

she's hooked on a game called NTN trivia
and me, i'm forever searching for stuff
URLs started poppin' up all around

in 1996 we got a home PC
boy, oh boy, oh boy...
BIG MISTAKE!

oh, it didn't hit me right away...

first we just played around with the stuff that came
pre-packaged with our new toy... solitaire,
minesweeper, blackjack 'n pinball,
a demo game of 'descent'

we got online after
a few months
and she
immediately
found... NetTrivia!
i was mostly just going
all over the web, to yahoo or
c/net ... or... www.dickbutkus.com
and checking all the links from 'free stuff'
lists. it wasn't long at all before i found out that
there are places that let you have a page for nothing.

that's x-actly how they getcha...
they direct you to sites where you start learning basic html.
the next thing ya' know, you're hunting for strange new
fonts and playing with tables and forms... friends
try to pull you away from the keyboard, but
it's too late. you skip lunch to tweak
a color just perfectly. then you
need a fancy-schmancy
animation tool or
something

thus,
the xone is
here in cyberspace
without any goal or mission.
my only purpose is to have fun learning
how to make pages, and maybe you will enjoy it too.

sections

since this is still so new to me, modifications
and additions are always just about to happen

the xone probably looks best when using Netscape
and a 640×480 display, please report any problems

(any input is gratefully accepted)
