Xena and Gabrielle arrived at Gaul on the night of the fifth day since they got the message. They paid for a room, and settled down to sleep. Xena had confirmed earlier that they would look for the king's palace the next day. It was now the next day, and they were traveling down a dirt road leading to the palace.
Xena stopped at a gateway with one guard on each side. Gabrielle walked up from the left of Argo to stand next to Xena. The guards said nothing. Xena hesitated, and handed them the parchment the king had sent them. The guards took it, looked at each other, and let them in.
"You know, there was a lot of tension there." Gabrielle commented. She had fell in step next to Argo again, and was guessing in her mind who would be with them during the journey. *Could it be Ulysses? No, he's probably staying at Ithaca for the rest of his life. It might be Hercules and Iolaus. Better not get any hopes up*
"Yeah, there was." Xena said. They continued on walking toward the castle in silence.
In a Gaelic market, Hercules walked toward the general direction of the king's palace. Iolaus was following a few steps behind, eyeing the merchandise and food in the market.
"Come on Iolaus," Hercules said while taking brisk steps. "We don't want to be late." They had been delayed because there was a flood in a nearby village, and Hercules had decided to help. It took only awhile though.
"Herc, aren't you at least a little curious about who might be with us during the journey?" Iolaus asked.
"Just a little, I guess.....um, well, yeah I'm curious." Hercules admitted.
"Then come on!" Iolaus shouted, getting a few looks from the people in the market. He ran up the path as fast as he could.
Hercules sighed loudly, and ran to catch up with his partner. *Why do I get the feeling this is going to be a long day?*
