Xena's Nightmare

It was a long day for Xena. She was riding on Argo, as Gabrielle was walking beside her. Gabrielle chattering on about how she and Xena saved a village earlier that day. She was proud of herself, in battle fighting off the bandits with her staff.
Finally Xena, couldn't take it any longer, she turned and looked down at Gabrielle and said "Shut up!" making Gabrielle stop dead in her tracks, Gabrielle said "what did I do ?", with a hurt expression. Xena came back with "your constant chattering is getting on my nerves." "sorry" came a soft reply from Gabrielle, "Maybe we should set up camp here, for the night and get some rest" said Gabrielle. Xena said "yeah maybe your right about us stopping and setting up camp for the night no more words were spoken, as they started to set up camp. Not even during the dinner. Xena and Gabrielle laid out there bed rolls by the smoldering fire, and went to sleep, and nether one of them said goodnight like they always did. Xena started dreaming of a battle, in which Gabrielle and Xena were fighting for their very lives, because Ares and Callisto had
teamed up together, and were attacking Xena and Gabrielle, they were battling it out and things were staring to look grim. Xena whistled for Argo to come up, and pick them up as Argo sped toward them. Ares saw his chance and launched a lightning bolt from his hands at Xena, but Gabrielle saw the bolt and pushed Xena down. Gabrielle taking the full burst of the lightning bolt killing her instantly, Xena looked horrified, as she looked up as the bolt hit Gabrielle, killing her, then it was over. Callisto and Ares both vanished leaving Xena alone with Gabrielle dead beside her. Xena reached for her friend, with tears running down her face saying, "please talk to me, please don't die." Then she screamed "I will kill you Ares, by the Gods I will kill you" she screamed again, "by the Gods I will kill you Ares" in her sleep. Gabrielle waking up instantly from her sleep, "what ?" she muttered, as she looked at Xena. Xena was tossing and turning in her sleep again, she started to scream, " I will kill you Ares." Gabrielle crawled, out of her bed roll, and went over to Xena.
Trying to wake her Xena up, Gabrielle said "wake up Xena wake up," as she started to shake her awake. Xena woke up with sweat dripping down her face. Xena looking up at Gabrielle, who had a concern look on her face. "Are you all right ?" said Gabrielle. Xena said looking up in her into friends face, "your alive !" with astonishment. Gabrielle looked at her, in surprise saying "why yes I'm alive why shouldn't I be. You were having a nightmare." Gabrielle got up to get the fire started again. Xena was shaking from the coolness in the night air, and from her dream. Xena was watching Gabrielle as she was getting the fire started again, 'let's never fight again," said Xena. "Ok" said Gabrielle, as they huddled together by the fire. Xena started to fall asleep again, in Gabrielle's arms. "Goodnight my Warrior Princess, and may you have sweet dreams from now on." She gently kissed Xena on her head as Xena was sound asleep in her arms.
