Life Without You Near

I sit here and listen as
you read your stories by the light
of the fire.
and my heart begins to fill with desire.
With nothing more then a scroll and a quill.
You enable me to relive all of the precious
moments from my past at will.
Together we have seen each other through
good times and bad,
and with your help I have learned
how to open up my heart and express
myself when I'm feeling sad.
I used to think I had a heart of stone
and that I would live out the remainder of
my days being alone.
But now I can't imagine my life without
you near, you are always on my mind
and I know a better friend I shall never find.
