THE GATHERING!!
Sue Hayes 1997

Family to me has always been dear,
Though some were distant as well as near.
Our Family was always known for their fun,
Being very friendly, they liked most everyone.
When I was young there was no question if you went,
As a family gathering was a special event.
Today everyone is so busy with other things,
They've lost the feeling that family brings.
Most of the young today, don't know many relations,
We travel far and there's more separation.
But life is short as time goes whizzing by,
Work, raise a family and it is gone with the wink of an eye.

The older we get, we sit and ponder,
Was this what I worked so hard for, I wonder.
We talk and reminisce, trying to remember,
Did that happen in the spring or was it December.

The young are missing something and don't even know it,
Even if they do, they don't want to show it.
So come on young and meet the old,
You might enjoy, some of the stories that are told.

The Brawley's and McKibbins's are fading fast,
Not many left, to tell of the past.
Come share with us your dreams of the dawn,
And we'll share our pride of things that are gone.
