Abel A. Doty

Abel Doty enlisted in Company F, on October 17,1864 at Detroit, and was mustered into service on the same day. His enlistment was for only 1 year. He was age 34. His reasons for enlisting as a recruit in the regiment are unknown, although he was probably related in some way to Robert (or Albert) Doty who had enlisted in the Regiment the previous March.

By the time Abel joined the Regiment, its fighting days were almost over. Able probably was present for the Raid the Meherrin River and the fight at Dabney's Mills, as well as siege duty before Petersburg.

Abel mustered out with the regiment at Detroit, Michigan, June 30, 1865.
