Camp Distribution July 31st
Dear Sister
Do you want to see any warmer than this is? Here I sit striped to shirt & drawers in the coolest place I can find in the house. Perhaps you say not a very pretty situation should one chance to have Lady visiters & not a very modest form to be in writing to Lady friends but allow me to say the clothes are clean & feet too, as I have just been down to the river & had a nice bathe, or thought I could not pass of the afternoon "few silent tongue" which is dumb enough. Unless there is something to write about. I can think of nothing now I have except for not & I never like to do that when it availes nothing - here comes the ice man that will cool things off some. We have very good tasting water here but warm, so with the help of ice, (a ten cent chunk per day) we get along nicely on that score for all day - well the ice is got along with. I am in receipt of that oil & as it has no perfume so common to that pretty Bird I can only guess of its kind. I was very glad to get it, it being so highly recommended, although I have not, as yet had experience enough in it to see what it will do // it came Tuesday . But could you not have sent it better in a vial & smaller quantity? The Box was about half full when I got it, but I dont see how it could have been put up with better care, in that form, but if it goes through my hand as it did the box I shall have great hopes. I visited Clark yesterday afternoon. He is well, as well as your humble servant who was never better if he was it was so long ago I almost forgoten when it was. I have no cough to amount to anything & think
x Oh we had orders the other day to send away all surplus clothing. So I packed mine & expressed it to F W Fairman Plymouth. Shiped it the 26th. if any trouble going through I have to notify the Agent here within 30 days or they are not responsible for damage. So I wish you to let me know when it comes ask Frank to pay charges & take it home & - charge the same to me. There is nothing private in the box except a package of letters so he can put any thing to use he sees fit "the pants, jacket, & are fit for nothing but carpet rags I put them in to fillup. I wonder if I wont get a letter tonight. I have not had this last week What do you think about the Rebels being in Pa again? I dont see as our is very good for getting away from at present Well I dont care. it is only 380 days longer that aint long is it? Write often
