A native Detroiter, Francis Wright was farmer in either Wyandotte or Brownstown, Michigan during the summer of 1862. He enlisted in company A on August 11, 1862 at Detroit. He was 18 years of age. He mustered into federal service on August 13, 1862.
He was transferred to Invalid Corps on February 15, 1864. Probably
due to disease, but the exact reason is not known. Francis Wright
was discharged at Elmira, New York, July 14, 1865 from company
K, 1st Veteran Reserve Corps. This unit was assigned to guard
duty at the infamous
Elmira Prison
Francis Wright died in 1889. He was only 45 years old.
