Ralph Archibald

Englishman Ralph Archibald was a Detroit machinist when he.enlisted in company I on July 28, 1862 at Detroit. He was 21. Ralp was mustered into service on August 14, 1862.

Ralph was wounded in the leg at Getttysburg, Pennsylvania on July 1, 1863. He never fully recoverd. Because he was unable to service in the field, he was transferred to the Invalid Corps on February 15, 1864. Ralph Archibald was discharged on a surgeon's certificate of disability at Elmira, New York, from company I, 1st regiment Veteran Reserve Corps., April 8, 1865. This unit was assigned to guard duty at the infamous Elmira Prison

He attended Michigan Day at Gettysburg in 1889.
