The Old Tivoli Hotel
Biloxi, Mississippi, USA
Virtual Tour
Welcome to another virtual tour hosted by the Dominoes After-Midnight Club explorers. Again, we state that this information is posted for educational purposes only, in no way does the DAMC nor its members encourage illegal activity. This club abstains from vandalism, and does not advocate trespass or hazardous venture.
Having said that, let's begin our virtual tour of one of Biloxi's oldest deteriorating landmarks..
The Site: Old Tivoli Hotel
Location: 400 Block of U.S. 90, Biloxi, MS, USA
(Old address prior to 1990 Postal Revision: 863 E. Beach Blvd)
First Documentation by the DAMC: July, 1997.
History: Construction completed early in 1927 at a cost of $750,000
(Last attempted renovation: 1991).
Designed by architect Carl E. Matthes.
Named to National Register of Historic Places May 1984.

Upon arrival for this afternoon's lurk into the Tivoli, we were surprised to find that part of the fence along the back had been peeled down by unknown causes. This greatly improved our access into the building, eliminating alot of the strenuous window-climbing we previously had to do. Moving a sheet board out of the way allowed us to pass into a service area that had an unprotected entry directly into the building. This view is from the rear of the hotel.

View of a service room at the loading dock at the rear of the building, which previously had to be navigated before the fence was ripped. Compare entry path on our first-floor map, and note the signature left behind by a zealous club member...

still abandoned and deteriorating. Five years later there is still no sign of rescue for this beautiful landmark - only the greater destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina (Photo below after the storm, September 2005).
