Images of Wounded Knee

When people who are AIM think of the old days, images flash in their minds of good and bad times.  Struggles of the people, fought for and won; family members murdered in the name of genocide and Amerikkka; battles won and lost.

When people who are not AIM think of the old days of the Movement, they sometimes draw a complete blank.  Other times, they get fuzzy images of
memory, both real or television enhanced.

The images here are real.  The people and the actions are real.  The
images are a little fuzzy and hard to see.  In the early days of the Movement, the AIM, itself, was a little fuzzy and hard to see for most people; especially for non-Indian people.

It is my hope that by viewing these images and really thinking about
those days before Indian people had the right to pray in their own way in
this country, before our children were protected from illegal adoption
practices, before our women were safe from forced sterilizations, by REALLY looking and seeing these images, that they will start to clear up.  I am hoping that the images for you will become sharp and clear.  That you will see them as they are meant to be seen.  Focused, strong, powerful and distinct.

Things will never be the same again...and that is what the American
Indian Movement is all about.
