American Polish Council of Long Island, Inc.
was founded in 1963 by Leon Young, for the purpose of fostering social, civic and cultural
activities amongst its members. We also promote close cooperation and mutual assistance with
other organizations in achieving the common goals of the American Polish Community in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The council sponsors the "Polish Day Picnic" held every June, and "Polish Night" held every July in
Eisenhower Park. Annually, we also award a college scholarship to a qualified
individual in the Polish community, in memory of Leon Young.
We encourage all residents of Long Island, that are of Polish descent to become members of
APCLI. Your membership gains you new friends, exposure to the Polish heritage
and insight to the vast Polish Community on Long Island.
