You should try doing a taigi, there are many lttle methods like these which you
tend to use if you've lost time for some reason and need to make it up. This
sometimes happens in our lower level gradings where the testee doesn't know the
taigi as well as they should and uke does. If uke doesn't want to do the whole
thing all over again because the time was wrong then they tend to try and
shorten a few things and shave some seconds off here and there ;o)

Of course, this sometimes works against you. I was once trying to speed a taigi
up with a less experienced nage. I held onto his wrist as he threw me. I
rolled small, turned and used his arm to pull myself up so that I could
immediately be standing ready for the next throw. Unfortunately, he not only
wasn't expecting this, but he was also not standing in a balanced/centered
manner. As a result, my "time-saving shortcut" ended up throwing him onto the
mat.
While all of the onlookers were entertained by this, Sensei still made us start
over from the beginning.
