Wahid is avoiding confrontation with the military because he refused to operate based on True North principals. As H.S. Dillon, a member of Indonesia’s National Commission on Human Rights so eloquently described;” Wahid is a politician first, What he wants most of all is to stay in power, and he is not willing to do anything to jeopardize that.” Meanwhile more than 4000 Moluccans haven been killed so far by the Lashkar Jihad vigilantes. It was widely reported that the military is aiding the Jihad forces with automatic weapons, mortars and aided by military personnel. The special forces of TNI-AD) better known as Kopassus has been seen training Moslems in Ambon for the sole purpose of fossilizing the Christian population. The leader of the jihad forces, Jafar Umar Thalib were known to have some friendly meeting with Governor Latuconsina and Chief of Police, Firman Ghani. Just recently the military regional commander, general I Made Yasa told reporters that the reason the island of Saparua was destroyed by the Moslems, because the Christians won't allow his forces to protect them. The fact of the matter is, the military pretend to be the protector of the people, but in reality they are still actively aiding the Moslems in destroying the Christians population in the Moluccan islands. It is obvious that the military and the Moslem jihad have a “symbiotic” relationship. The military like to preserve their dual function in the Indonesian society, while on the other hand the fundamentalist Moslem would see that Indonesia become an Islamic state. It's inaccurate to say that what happen in the islands is a result of a sectarian war between Moslems and Christians. In other words what happen in the Moluccan islands is the result of a “ State Sponsored Genocide “ as well as what happened when Hitler massacred the Jews ; a “State Violence” leveled upon us. This fact can further be seen by a recent statement made by Indonesia foreign Minister, Alwi Shihab concerning six Moluccan men that jump over the fence of the Swiss embassy to request political asylum. Shihab stated: “ The tragedy of the government of Switzerland granting political asylum to these six men is; it won't change the situation or will lead to a solution in the Moluccan islands. Imagine the people that conspire to drive us to the sea and try to wipe us out of our sacred lands are given a license to commit “ ethnic cleansing” sponsored by the state. So far our people have been slaughtered and many disemboweled, many communities on the islands have been scorch to the ground, people are driven away from their land, thousands of homeless people as well as orphans, more than 1000 churches have been burned. Yet Ali Shibab had the audacity to say that the world should pay attention; that sometimes information that came out of the islands is inaccurate and exaggerated. Outrageous!!!! There are even international laws that protect polar bears, whales and eagles. Yet the Indonesian government think it's just fine to kill our people and try to put their own spin to it which usually lead to lies. Just like the Nazi time, the “Final Solution” was not openly publicized by the Nazis and thus it took longer for information to reach the free world. Every attempt was made to fool the victims and thereby prevent or minimize resistance. Nevertheless, by December 1942, news of the mass murders and the plan to annihilate European Jewry was publicized by the Jewish press. Thank God what happen to us occur during the internet era, so Mr. Shihab and his terminators, the lashkar jihad vigilantes can’t get away with this mass murder leveled against the moluccan people. He will definitely be one of the people responsible for the blood of more than 4000 moluccans. Mr. Shihab also mentioned that there's a possibility of foreign intervention in the granting of political asylum to the six moluccan men. The fact of the matter is that there's a strong tradition in Indonesia of standing defiant against international pressure and blaming your own shortcomings on an international plot. It's a convenient scapegoat. How much compensation do you think ought to be paid to the Moluccan people who was raped emotionally, financially, culturally, economically for more than 50 years by the Indonesian government? What would you want for their sons and daughter if they had been raped even once? Just imagine; what would you have done if a stranger force himself into your land and raped and killed your wife and children in front of your own eyes. Then they tell you that they are not going to kill you because they want you to suffer. We as Moluccan-American should not remain silent against the atrocities leveled upon our people in the Moluccan a.k.a the Spice Island. We've had enough promises. Now we want results! We demand the following: We want to remind America that this beloved America was founded on Christian principals, a nation that has encourage tolerance of all culture and religion including Islam, can not stand by idly without giving up its claim as a nation of justice and moral conviction. I repeat, the United States can’t let this “ State Violence” against our people to continue even for just one more minute. If America has the power to open the world's mouth when it’s own citizen was slaughtered in East Timor, with great confidence I believe as a Moluccan-American; America will again come to the rescue, just as always. We strongly urge the United States to intervene on moral grounds in the most expeditious manner so that further blood shed can be averted and the healing can begin. Fifty some years ago the United Nation through the “ Round Table Agreement”, agreed with claim by the Moluccas that it had the right of self-determination, i.e. an independent state. And today we ask, if Indonesia seeks to be an Islamic state and if the Ambonese are singled out to be the victim of “ State Violence “ because they are in fact ethnically and religiously different from the rest of Indonesia, and if centuries of old truce pacts among villages of Maluku have been permanently broken because of central policies from Jakarta, then Maluku should never be part of Indonesia. It's a conspiracy committed by Soekarno and Van Rooyen dan allow the Indonesian arm forces to annex Maluku into Indonesia in the same way Iraq tried to annex Kuwait but failed because of action taken by the United States. Again we urge the United States to come to the rescue and allow the Moluccan Christians to secede from Indonesia and become an independent state or through plebiscite to become the 51st state of the United States. When it the course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation. We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness – That to secure these Rights, Government are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Power in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Again aside to what happen in the Round Table Agreement, we as a people have the right to form our own new government whenever any form of government becomes destructive and prevent us from exercising our God given unalienable rights which are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. This is definitely the case of the Moluccan Christians. Therefore we will exercise our inalienable right to secede from the Devil itself, the Indonesian government or become the 51st state of the United States of America. We ask the United States government and the American people to use its influence as the only legitimate superpower and moral conscience on the globe, to intervene( by way of arming the Moluccan Christians) on behalf of the Moluccan Christians to the right of “ Self Determination”, the right to freely pursue our economic, religious , and social development. The US and the world community should not consider economic and IMF aid to a regime that is knowingly willing to sacrifice a Christian minority for political gain. The US should urge Ms. Mary Robinson to form an international tribunal a la the Nuremberg Trials to bring the killers of the moluccan people.
