This is a page dedicated to the glory of A&E's new presentation of Ivanhoe. To say the least, the movie is stunning. The casting is perfect, the script follows the plot perfectly. Everything is just right. Even the logo is awesome! (see above.)
Ivanhoe was released April 20, on A&E, and came in three two-hour parts. That makes it a little less than six hours, and every minute spellbinding!

Actors

One of the things I liked most about Ivanhoe was the incredible attention to the detail that makes it such a good novel. The entire cast looks like the characters they are portraying, down to the last castle-guard. Especially important are the differences between the Normans and the Saxons -- a major theme in the book, and a vital part of the story. To simply skip over these details--as the very old version of Ivanhoe did--is to strip the story down to the very bones. A&E made sure each Saxon and Norman looked liek what they were, and it made a world of difference.
Ciaran Hinds is Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert! (Boi-Guilbehr) (Does anyone know how to pronounce Ciaran?) He is the very most bestest Bois-Guilbert anyone ever was. Anyone for a Ciaran fan club? No, seriously. He's so tremendously cool.
