The Bikini Rules
skimpy, but covers the essentials!
revision date: 7/97 |
 |
| Here is a list of guidelines your friendly neighborhood barroom bouncers have discussed and agreed upon for the Tun Tavern. If you have any problems with any of these rules, please email our burly Channel Manager NytProwler and arrangements will be made to discuss your concerns. These are simple common sense. We wish to make everyone feel welcome. The word is ... communication! Isn't that what this is all about? |
 |
GOLDEN RULES OF THE PATRONS AND OPS |
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Failing that, at least be polite on channel. |
Thou shalt not repeatedly spam the screen with pretty colors and flood non-mIRC users off the channel. |
Thou shalt keep the conversation at PG-13 when minors are present. Failing that, remove thyself to #netsex or a private window. |
Thou shalt not indulge in topic wars. Yuk. Phooey. |
If thou abuses thine op status, thou will be removed from the bot access list. |
 |
GOLDEN RULES OF THE OPS AND CM |
Enforce the above golden rules, using your discretion based on the situation. |
Thou shalt LOGGETH when opped! |
Keep the CM (our RNBM) informed of what's what via email with pertinant log snippets and cans of (Coors) beer. |

So ... who gets to be an Op? a/o 08/30/97, here's who qualifies: |
- All people that meet the following criteria will be given bot access at level 100. Use of ops status is up to each individual patron, but the access will be there in case of emergency:
- Is subscribed to the TunTavern mailing list
- Is a member of the channel in good standing (not kicked and banned)
- Has been a channel regular for 4-6 months minimum and logs on *regularly*
- Over the age of 18
- Attends our little mini 'ops class' and agrees to abide by the rules and regs of kicking and banning. Bot access will be revoked if bot access is abused and the rules are not followed. One strike law, folks.
- All people that meet the following criteria will be given bot access at level 75. Use of ops status is up to each individual patron, but the access will be there in case of emergency:
- Is subscribed to the TunTavern mailing list
- Is a member of the channel in good standing (not kicked and banned)
- Has been a channel regular for 4-6 months minimum and logs on *regularly*
- Under the age of 18
- Attends our little mini 'ops class' and agrees to abide by the rules and regs of kicking and banning. Bot access will be revoked if bot access is abused and the rules are not followed. One strike law, folks.
- The CM will periodically review the TunTavern mailing list (every 4 to 6 months) and add the additional people that have qualified for either level since the last 'pass' (i.e. a regular who has joined the list since then, a person has been around long enough now, an upgrade in ops as they turned 18, or what not). This will be an automated process.
- There will be four administrators who will have level 450 access to
assist in bot coding, to give advice as asked, and to give input on
non-channel wide decisions (i.e. a ban judgement or unfair kick).
- These people will be:
Shark aka slkjfkdhfjdfjdhf aka Neil
Vaalen aka Kate
ciaobaby aka Judy
Corsair aka Tim
- All major channel decisions (i.e. changing the room name, banning the use of sounds, things of that ilk) will be decided by the CM based on patron and administrator input. A message to the TunTavern mailing list will be posted on consideration of any such major matters announcing an all hands meeting to accept input. Or you can email your two cents directly to the CM if you cannot attend, and have an opinion. The CM will make the final decision based on this patron input.
- All non-major channel decisions will be decided by the CM based on administrator commentary as required. Clear cut ban cases need no input and require expediency, but they will be kept apprised.
- The CM reserves the right to veto any suggestion that is detrimental to the channel and risks deregistration with cservice.

And just where do I find out about the geeky part of being an Op? with sincere apologies to Aerogeek! |
| From CService, we find out that there are opschool X/W Technical Classes regularly scheduled in #opschool. A mirror class will be in #opschool2 for those who cannot get into #opschool. There is set a limit in the channel and also it is put on invite only. #opschool2 allows you to log and watch the class, but no question asking. After the class you can go into #opschool for an extra half hour of questions and answers. Also, check out the Closed Circuit Opschool Class for REGISTERED Channels only.
You can see a transcript of an actual Ops School class here.
Please refer their web page for all the info you need on all the programs. See you in class!

| Oh ... and just what does RNBM stand for, in reference to our CM? Why Red Neck Beer Meister of course! Chug-a-lug! :-)
