X-Force offically began as The New Mutants series ended, but you can easily date the beginning of X-Force to issue 87 of the
New Mutants. Xavier's School for the next wave of X-Men had been destroyed, only the submansion was left. Xavier was off
in an another galaxy and Magneto had abandonned his charges. The team continued on their own until a chance trip to New
York City where the kids meet a stranger named Cable who was trying to avoid Freedom Force, who the kids knew to be
corrupt. They help him escape and bring him back to X-Factor's HQ where he accepts the responsibility of leading the
team. But was it a chance meeting, or does he have a hidden agenda ?
Since issue 87, the team would never be the same. A new writer and penciler named Rob Leifeld changed the face of X-Force
from a school for mutant kids into a proactive Strike Force under the direction of their new brash leader Cable.
Over time, the team lost and gained members, some went home, some went evil, and some moved on to bigger things. Read on
to learn what happened, although remember, this is no substitute for the real thing !!
