(1st full appearance of Cable, Stryfe and The MLF)
The previous storyline in Asgard is wrapped up and The New Mutants return home (without Danielle Moonstar) in order to help Rusty Collins and Skids Blevins who are in a hospital under the "protection" of Freedom Force. Cable's first appearance is an attempt to stop a terrorist bombing by The Mutant Liberation Front (MLF), but he is too late. Zero teleports the MLF away before the explosion, but it appears Cable was not as fortunate. We see later that he is a survivor when he again tracks the MLF to the hospital where Rusty and Skids are being held. The MLF, under orders from Stryfe, plan to "rescue" Rusty and Skids as a statement for Mutant Rights, but Cable knows better of Stryfe's intentions and attempts his own rescue. His efforts fail again due to Zero's teleporting and he is taken as a prisoner by Freedom Force. At the end, The New Mutants return to earth to the sight of X-Factor's Ship falling from the sky.
