Caliban and Sabretooth battle in the Morlock tunnels and Rictor fears for his life no matter who is the winner. Cable and The New Mutants are met by Masque and the surviving Morlocks, but are allowed to pass. They locate the struggle and split up to take out both Sabretooth and Caliban. Wolfsbane and Cannonball take on Sabretooth while Cable, Sunspot and Boomer handle Caliban. Boomer brings down the ceiling on top of Caliban and Sabretooth sneaks off with Rictor. When threatened with his death, Rictor finds the strength to create a seismic tremor to defeat Sabretooth who is then left to the Morlocks for justice. Back in the remains of the mansion, Rictor heals and begins to show some respect for Cable and his work ethic, despite his yet unrevealed prejudices against him.
