Fabian Nicieza - Writer

In issue 40, we se the set up of the situation. Thornn has been accused of the murders of her sister, brother, mother and stepfather. Hildalgo, an old friend/flame is the one who brings her in. She has one call and who does she call? Cable, who just happens to have among his many talents, a law degree from Harvard. Cable and Hildalgo both think Feral is the real culprit and team up to catch her. A rumor is started about FOH agents taking out Thornn for her crimes at the house where they occured, and Cable lets the FOH agents take Thornn and Hildalgo. Rictor and ShatterStar lead the pursuit to the house and Warpath makes a wall to stop them. Once there, Feral appears ... and the fun begins...

In issue 41...

With Cannonball at the lead, ShatterStar, Thornn, and Hildalgo enter the house in an attempt to flush Feral out.

"The words we need to hear regarding feral's past will have to be ripped from her hissing tongue" - ShatterStar

Instead, Feral watches them from above and pounces on Hildalgo, taking him hostage. Siryn takes to the air to watch for an escape. Meanwhile, Feral (Maria) begins to relate her side of the story. How some people deserve to die...
Cable and Domino take to the rooftops, pinning Feral's location while Sam and the others approach. Domino is more than ready to take her out. Cable however, remembers having shot his own son to save the rest of his family from Stryfe, and doesn't want Feral killed.
Entering the room, Feral and Thornn begin to tell their versions of the story. Lucia/Thornn covered up for Maria/Feral, trying to help her and hooking her up with the Morlocks after it all happened. Maria always felt alone, her pigeons being the only things that ever really needed or wanted her. Their father abandoned them when Maria was six, and their mother always said it was because they had too many kids. Feral saw the abandonment as being the fault of their younger sister and brother. Caroline, the sister, fell down the stairs when Maria was supposed to be watching her, but Feral says it wasn't her fault. Their brother was chasing her pigeons and fell off the roof. Maria didn't push him, but he couldn't hold on to the ledge for long, so she let him fall. Feral wasn't exactly being nice but she didn't murder them. Their stepfather Harry is another story... He was a drunk, a coc'-head, and constanly grabbing after the girls. When Lucia tried to escape one night he dragged her into an alley. Feral then appeared and proceeded to rip his face off. Self-defense? As far as Feral is concerned, Harry got what he deserved. But their mother? Their mother was on drugs as well, and when Harry disappeared she got mad. She killed all of Feral's pigeons. Feral lost it and killed her outright. At this point she turns on everyone and attacks Sam. Sam promptly blasts her into the wall.

"We came here tonight t'end it! An' now that we've found out the truth - end it we will" - Sam

ShatterStar pins Feral down as Hildalgo arrests her for the murders. Thornn is expected to be cleared, while Feral will face at least one murder charge. The MLF is blamed for the attempted kidnapping of Thornn and Hildalgo in the news.
But who helped them set up Feral? And frame the MLF? -- Dani Moonstar. She may not be with them, but she still has a sense of family.
