Deadpool materializes somewhere in Europe with his two captives, Juggernaut and Black Tom and hands them over to Tolliver who we see only in shadows. In Manhattan, Dr. Karl Lykos is going home to his apartment where he discovers Toad and Blob holding his girl friend Tanya captive. They seek to recruit Dr. Lykos's alter-ego, Sauron, for membership in The New Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Gideon is then seen on a television report where he claims that Cable was the real mastermind behind the trade center take over. Cable and X-Force watch the broadcast which causes more tension between Cable and Cannonball. Warpath contemplates revenge and Feral contemplates Shatterstar's buns. Siryn decides she is going to stay with the team, and Cable confides in her that his mission is "going to be dirty". In Washington D.C., G. W. Bridge and Nick Fury meet with H. P. Gyrich and Val Cooper to discuss the apprehension of Cable where Gyrich announces he is reinstating "Project Wideawake". In an abandoned warehouse, Toad and his gang have captured Dr. Lykos and begin bringing out his dark side once again.
