Leafold Kiln vs. Kalla
        Leafold steps into the arena. Big for a half-elf, he is not quite as large as the sturdy woman across the arena from him. Kalla and Leafold are announced, and the signal to begin sounds. Kalla begins a slow stroll across the arena toward Leafold. A two handed sword is held comfortably in one of her hands. Leafold takes off across the floor of the arena toward his opponent. His footfalls do not make a sound. As he approaches the woman, he leaps in the air to bring his sword down in an arc to cleave into his foe. She calmly looks at him and speaks one word. The rope at her side shoot forth and completely entangles Leafold who lands with an audible "WOMPF" at her feet, unable to move.
        Leafold is starting to panic. His mind blanks as to what to do when he sees Kalla's 2 handed sword rise up and quickly fall toward his head. The blade slashes across Leafold's face which causes Leafold to lash out with the only thing that comes to mind. A lightning bolt appears between the 2 close contestants, arcing through the barbarian and beyond. Kalla grits her teeth when the blast goes through her, and all the blast seemed to do was upset the woman. She straddles the bundled Leafold and places her sword on Leafold's throat. "Don't annoy me again, elf-kin. Yield and live, or don't, and die. You are not worth any more of my time." She spits those last words out.
        Leafold looks up at the scowling Kalla. With an act of will, Leafold fades from view. Kalla's blade strikes the spot where Leafold just occupied. The world is now hazy to Leafold as he has entered the border ethereal plane. In this plane, he knows he cannot affect Kalla, nor can he get anything closer than one foot to her. He can see a wispy outline of where she is standing, but she does not seem to see where he went. As he turned ethereal and Kalla's sword came down, Leafold was knocked into the same space as the arena floor (to move him out of the one foot area around Kalla). He is prone in relation to Kalla, but since he considers whatever direction he wants to be down for him, he is effectively standing right now.
        Moving around through the ethereal plane to a point behind Kalla, Leafold returns. Before Kalla even notices his presence, Leafold dives his sword down into her back. As she is recovering from the unexpected blow, Leafold's sword finds its way past her defenses again, stabbing deeply into her body.
        Kalla, having been surprised by Leafold's attack, recovers and starts her two-handed sword on a deadly arc of revenge. Leafold appears surprised at the amount of damage he actually did, and presses his attack. By the time Kalla's sword reaches him, his has struck out at her. Both swords bite at the same time. (Leafold's sinks much deeper into Kalla) They each recover for their follow-up swings, and again, both swords strike their opponents at the same time.
        Leafold seems to have a rhythm down as his blade finds opening after opening. Again his sword sinks into the weakening Kalla. The hearty barbarian woman holds on and strikes a weak blow to Leafold. Leafold counters and clips the strings that were holding Kalla to consciousness. Leafold triumphs in his victory.
