April - June 1998

  • (6/5/98) The Knight of the Black Rose, Sir Garamore, left for home today without qualifying for the tournament. A priestly advisor to his order, Raston, arrived a couple of days ago and reportedly told Garamore to return to Highland for a local dispute. Garamore is not expected to return for the Summer Tourney.

  • (6/2/98) In one of the closest matches in recent history, the Aasimar called Laereth, in a rematch against the man who previously defeated him, fought The Warlord, one of Saberhaven's best known competitors. The fight came right down to the end with a slight advantage going to The Warlord, who barely managed to finish off his opponent. Both are expected to perform extremely well in the upcoming tournament.

  • (5/30/98) In a shocking fight between two mul gladiators, the newcomer Ebrecus Keldar severed the torso of Romus Todd slave Bazoo. Watch for developments on whether Bazoo can be healed and revived.

  • (5/29/98) As the summer tournament draws nearer, the out-of-town contengencies start arriving. The Snow Dwarf contingent, lead by King Kovak Kopper himself, arrived late last night. Also spotted in town are the Crusaders of Meph.

  • (5/26/98) A new contingency has formed called "The Warriors of the Mind". Formed as an alliance between psionic and spellcasting combatants, the Athesian halfling Tak'Nak'Raq enlisted the forcemage/monk Morann and the Archdruid Quim as the first members.

  • (4/30/98) With the addition of another Aasimar to the newcomers roster, along with the three Tieflings who qualified for the tournament recently and a man who calls himself a "Rager", it's obvious that there is a steadily growing interest in the Games through the outer planes.

  • (4/28/98) A man calling himself Prince Kroobor arrived in town today in preparations for the upcoming tournament. The tall stranger claims to be the crown prince of a land in the far west and travels only with his kobold servant.

  • (4/27/98) Word is spreading through the city that several humanoid mercenary groups have decided to sponsor champions from their ranks.

  • (4/22/98) In a speedy victory, the Aasimar Latherin Dark defeated the former assassins guildmaster Mallor Dunadan. Using enchanted dust to make himself invisible, Dark appearantly scared the man into shock, then used several hand crossbow bolts with sleep poison to finish him off. Dark won his freedom.

  • (4/21/98) Reports from the tavern Planejumper tell of a group of five Tieflings recently arrived in Saberhaven. They supposedly plan to compete in the Games. Watch for upcoming events.

  • (4/19/98) Lord Mayor Malor Slonhouser announced today the opponant for convincted thief Latherin Dark. Mallor Dunadan, the former Guildmaster of the Association of Problem Eliminators (APE), will match the thief in a contest for Dark's freedom. If he loses, Dark will die.

  • (4/17/98) The Iceling Jurak Snowaxe was purchased today by Romus Todd, the gladiator slave master. Snowaxe was formerly owned by an unnamed group of Minotaur traders who brought the Iceling into town last week with a supply trade. The Minotaurs reportedly left Saberhaven for Highland, not intending to keep the Iceling with them on their return trip.

  • (4/16/98) A thief was caught last night in the home of Lord Mayor Malor Slonhouser. The man named Latherin Dark was sentanced to fight to the death in the arena to win his freedom. Dark recently arrived in Saberhaven and is of an extra-planar race known as Aasimar. The fight is expected to begin sometime in the next few days.

  • (4/12/98) After a humiliating defeat at the hands of Harumph, the force mage-monk Morann reportedly requested a rematch with the half-giant. The slave master Romus Todd was heard to say, "I see no point in rematching a fool like you." He did, however, grant a match with another of his gladiator slaves, the manpian Kraag.
