Gambit paced back and forward in front of his doorway.  He briefly touched his forehead.  He was not surprised to see that it was damp from perspiration.  What Hank had told him had scared him tremendously.  Why had I forgotten dat?  How in de Hell could I have forgotten dat?  He screamed to himself.

He paused to look at his door.  All dis could have been avoided!  Chere would not be in dis fix!  Wha' do I do now?

He knew that first thing he needed to do was to go back into his room and face Rogue.  Remy took a deep breath as he grabbed the door handle.  "Hope I'm a better actor dan I t'ink."

Rogue looked up when Gambit came back into their room.  She thought, at first, that when he came through the door that he looked worried, but that was now replaced with a brilliant smile.

She watched him as he walked over to the violinist and the two waiters.  The music stopped as he conversed with each one of them.  He reached into his side coat pocket then pulled out three envelopes.  They all smiled as the took them from his hand.

"Thank you Mi'seur Lebeau," they all echoed.

Gambit nodded then came back to stand behind Rogue's chair.  They both watched as the three packed everything back up to leave.

Rogue grabbed the bracelet from the table just as the men were preparing to take it.  She turned her head sideways in his direction, "Is the party over?"

Gambit placed his hands possessively on her shoulders.  He began to massage her muscles through the silkiness of her night dress.  "Non my little Cherie a'mour.  It's 'jis start'in."

The three gentlemen bowed to them as they filed out of the room.  "Madam," they all nodded to her.

"Thank yah, thank yah and thank yah too sir.  Bye yah'll."  She waved.

Gambit left her to follow them out the door.  "T'anks fellas.  I appreciate ya comin out."  The pointed in the direction of the stairwell.  "Down de hall ta de left, down de steps and straight out de front door."  He instructed.  "Do ya need me ta go witchas?"

"No thank you, Mi'seur Lebeau.  We can fine our way."

"Good.  Tell Maurice I'll call ya'll back when my chil'lin arrive.  O.K.?"

"Yes Sir."

Gambit smiled at the three men.  He thought it was best he waited to see them at least make it to the top landing on the steps.  Waving to them one last time, he slowly turned to go back into his room.  Remy let the door close quietly behind him.  Here goes, he thought as he came back to stand in front of Rogue.

Rogue had been so thrilled at Remy's evening that she hadn't paid any attention to a few things.  Now that everything was pretty much normal, and they were all alone, it all came to her.  "How did yah manage tah get all those people up here around the security system? Cyclops will be livid.  Sahpose one of dose men had been an impostor, one of our enemies in disguise"

"I gave Cerebro a description and a hair sample.  She scanned everybody dat came into de house dat was not a registered X-Man."  He shrugged.  "She know wha' ta look for."

Rogue gave him a side ways glance.  "A hair sample?"

"Chere, ya not up on our latest equipment."  He laughed then shook a condescending finger at her. "I requested a hair sample from everybody dat was set ta come here.  She scanned dem on de cellular level.  Ya don' get much more detailed dan dat."

"Ah guess not."

"Yah ought ta had seen de looks I got when I asked everyone for a lock of hair."  He laughed.

Rogue giggled.  "Then that being the case ... Ah simply loved everything.  Yah shore know how tah make a Gal seem special Sugah."  She smiled as he approached her.  "Thank yah, thank yah so very much."

Gambit came down on one knee beside her chair.  He was mesmerized by the emerald green of her eyes.  "I'm glad Chere."

She was encased with the overpowering urge to be close to him.  Rogue carefully locked the bracelet in place.

Gambit watched her.  "Chere, are ya sure dat dis wan' harm ya?  If not, we don' have ta ..."

"Shhssssssssh,"  she whispered.  "Ah wan' tah."  Rogue pressed the button that would cut her bracelet on therefore turning her powers off.

Gambit waited.  "Do ya feel any t'ing Chere."

Rogue waited too for the intense nausea, but nothing happened.  Good.  She slowly shook her head from side to side.  "No.  It looks like Ah'm gonna get tah keep mah dinner tonight."

Gambit crawled around on his knees until he was directly in front of her.  She sat back when he stood all the way, from his knees up then encircled her with his arms.  He pulled her slightly forward then let his head come to rest between her breasts.

Rogue had not expected him to do anything like this.  It was as if he was apologetic for something. But he had either chose not to tell her or could not to tell her why.   He did not say anything, just held her.  "Remy, whate'vah it is ...... Ah ... ah ....  Everything will be all raht."  She stroked his reddish brown hair through her fingers.  "Ah luv yah."  She said quietly.

Gambit closed his eyes as he pulled her tighter.  What in the world was he going to do?   Wha's done is done.  I can' change dat.  I need ta t'ink 'bout dis.  Wha' if wha' I find out is so terrible dat I can' live wit' it?  Remy ran his hands up her back then he tilted his head back to look at Rogue's beautiful face.  "I love ya too, Chere."

She didn't answer him back.  Only smiled.
