Gambit burst into his old room.  "Allow ladies."  He turned to see Storm, Jean as well as Rogue, all eating pizza.

Rogue immediately threw her slice back on her plate on the nightstand.  "There yah are!!  Yah miserable excuse for a fiance'!"  She shook one finger at him.  "What have yah got tah say for yah'self?"  She exclaimed.

Gambit held up both hands in surrender as he came up beside her bed.  He then shrugged.  "Nu'thin."

"Nu'thin?"  She mocked.  "Ya leave this morn'in trying tah kill yah'self on that ... that ... bike!  Then yah come home and ignore me the better part of the day and all yah have ta say for yah'self is 'Nut'in?' "  She mocked.

Storm looked at Jean then Jean looked at Storm.  "Maybe we ought to leave you two alone,"  suggested Jean.

"Nah, stay.  As de matta of fact ..."  Gambit took one step forward.  Bending down, he scooped Rogue up out of the bed into his arms.

"Hey!!  Put me down yah crazy ...!!"  She screamed at him as she started to struggle against him.

Gambit shook her slightly.  "Non'.  Be still Chere or I'll drop ya."  He warned.

"Yah wouldn't dare!!"

"Of course I wouldn't, but ya might wanna stop struggling before I accidently touch ya?"

Oh!  He's raht.  Rogue immediately quieted her movements.

"Dat's better."  He turned to the door he'd left standing open, "Follow us ladies." He called over his shoulder.

They both hurriedly put down their food to follow Gambit out the door.  Jean was curious.  "Gambit, what are you doing?  Should you be carrying her around like that?"

Storm touched her on her arm to get her attention.  She winked at the other woman.  "Watch," was all she said.

Jean raised an eyebrow at Storm.  Now what are those two up to?

They followed Gambit carrying Rogue, down the hall then down the steps.  The other team members were coming out of the kitchen after having their fill of pizza.

"What's up Lebeau?"  Asked Warren.

Gambit swung Rogue slightly toward Warren's direction.  "Yah'll come see wha' I bought."  He beamed with pride.

Rogue inhaled swiftly.  "Ya done bought ano'tha bike.  Dag Gum yah time boy!!"  She scolded.

"Nope."  He shook his head.  "Ya'll see."  He smiled. "Close ya eyes Chere."

"What?"

"Close ya eyes."

"Remy, Ah ..."

"Close dem."  He warned.

Rogue huffed out a short breath of air.  She then decided that what did she have to lose.  'Jis one day he'll find dat bike miss'in.  She pressed her lips into a thin line as she let her eyes shut.

"Stormy, get de door will ya?"

"Sure Remy."

Rogue could hear  all of the footsteps around them, the click of the door knob.  She could even hear the squeak of it's hinges.  The door must have opened because now she could feel the warmth of the day on her skin.  She could smell the fresh early autumn air that now blew across her face.

Gambit stepped up then out and over the front threshold onto the top step of the landing.  Everyone filed out of the house behind him as he descended down to the main drive way.

Rogue listened to the 'Oooos' and 'Aws' of everyone around them.  Now what's this crazy fool done bought?  "Any time now Lebeau!"  She grated.

Gambit positioned himself where he knew she would get the best view.  "O.K. Chere ... Open up and see."

Rogue was half afraid of what she might would see.  She opened one eye, then the other to look at what was in front of her.  "Oh ... mah ... Remy!"

"Ya like it Chere?"

"Oh ... mah ... Remy!!"  Rogue could barely contain herself.  She looked from one end to the other at the prettiest brand spanking new Toyota Land Cruiser that she'd ever seen.  It was jet black with light grey leather interior, two sun roofs, luggage rack, chrome mag rims and limosine tinted windows.  Then she looked in the back seat and the back compartment.  It was stuffed to the top with baby clothes, bottles, diapers and everything else the children could possibly need or want for the first six months of life.  "Oh ... mah ... Remy!!!"  She screamed.

Wolverine walked up to the left side of Gambit, still nawing on a piece of pizza crust.  "Guess that means she likes it."  He shrugged before he walked away to get a closer look.  The other team members were now mulling around it too.

"Put me down,"  she started to struggle.  "Ah want tah get a better look at it."

Gambit looked over at Hank, "Can I?"

Hank smiled then nodded, "Put her down for a little while.  She will be all right."

Gambit complied as he leaned over slightly until her feet touched the ground.

Bishop tossed Gambit the keys from where he stood back watching.  "T'anks Pup."  He turned to Rogue.  "Here ya go Chere."  He dangled the keys in front of her face.  "Don' look like no bike, do it?"

She hastily took the keys out of his hand.  "It sure doesn't.  But what 'bout yah bike?"

Gambit shook his head, No.  "I used de money from it for de down payment."

"But what 'bout mah other truck?"

"Dat's up ta ya Chere.  Ya can keep it or sell it.  It don' matta."  He shrugged.  "Gambit 'jis t'ought dat wit' two babies, ya might need some'thin bigger."  He nodded in the direction of the new vehicle.  "Now are ya gonna 'jis look at it or get in it?"

Rogue could've cried.  She touched her gloved hand up to Remy's face.  "Thank yah Sugah.  Ah know what that bike meant tah yah."

"Well Chere de way I see it, is dat ya and dose babies ..."  He patted her on her still flat stomach.  "... mean a hellava lot more den a bike any day."

Well now she knew she was going to cry so it was no surpise when she felt the tears start to roll down her face as she looked at him.

Gambit smiled.  "Now stop ya blubberin so you can go sit in ya new 'Toy'."

Rogue laughed as she turned to make her way through the crowd that surrounded her new vehicle.  "Lady with babies, lady with babies."  The curious crowd parted for her.  When she opened the driver side door, Bobby and Sam aided her in climbing up into the lush cab.  "Hot Damn! A CD Player!  Burwood accent and it's automatic!"

Gambit laughed to himself.  Bishop walked up beside him.  They both watched as Rogue played until her heart content with the truck.  "Good call."  Said Bishop.

"Great call."  Said Gambit.

The excitement of the day had tired Rogue out.  Once she was through checking out her new vehicle and it's contents, Remy had carried her back upstairs to her room. The team members volunteered to carry up all of the baby things.

It was sort of melancholy for her to watch  Remy and Bishop packed then carried all of his clothes down the hall to his new room.

"Now ya not gonna get all sad on me again, are ya?"

"No, Ah ... Ah know it's only temporary,"  she told him as he helped her adjust her pillows behind her back.  "Will ya come sit with me when ya through?"

"Sure Chere.  Me and Bish need ta discuss some t'ings, but I'll be back."  He winked at her as he stood all the way back up.

"All raht."

"Mean time, ya still have Storm and Jeanie ta keep ya company."  He pointed at the foot of the bed where the two ladies were now sorting through the items.  The only problem was that now there was a rather large pile of baby clothes and etc.., at the foot of her bed.

"Oooo now, look at this."  Storm and Jean both held up identical newborn yellow sleepers.

"Are they not the cutest things?"  Gushed Storm.

Rogue laughed.  "Really Remy, ya gonna have tah stop buying so much until we figure out where tah store it all."

"Yeah, I know.  Had a serious jolt of impulse buying today."  He laughed.

"These are the last three suitcases Remy."  Bishop held up two of the large Luis Vitton cases."

"O.K. Pup."  Gambit called over his shoulder as the other man went out the room's door.  He turned on his heel to retrieve the last case.  "Be raht back Rogie."

Rogue had to surpress a large lump that was forming in her throat.  "Sure.  Ah'll be waiting."

Prologue to "I'm Not Interested"

Bishop placed the two cases down in the middle of the bedroom's floor along with the other four that he and Remy brought in earlier.  "Why one man need so many leather jackets and shoes is over my head?"

He turned when he heard Gambit coming through the door.  "Last one Pup."  Remy placed the case down in the middle of the room along with the others.

Bishop nodded.  "Do you have time to talk now?  If not, It can wait until tomorrow."

"None sense."  Gambit walked back to the door.  Shutting it, he turned to Bishop.  "I told Chere I needed ta talk ta ya.  I go sit wit' her when we t'rough."  He made an odd face, "So wha's de matta?"

Oh no he didn't!  Bishop arched his browse at him then he grabbed Gambit by his arm.  "You didn't mention that in the front of Ororo did you?"  He exclaimed.

Gambit squinted his eyes at him as he pulled his arm from Bishop's grasp, "Well ... yeah ... but she was so busy looking at de baby clothes and fix'ins, she not even blink."  He studied the other man closely.  "Wha' de matta wit' ya Pup?"

Bishop turn to walk over to the window.  He took a deep breath as he stared outside on the grounds of the front lawn.  "When I went to get the pizzas, I ran into someone."

Gambit thought he'd better sit down for this one.  He took the chair that sat over from where Bishop stood.  Once comfortable, he crossed his lower leg over the other leg's knee.  Bishop turned slightly to look at him before he refocused on the scenery out side.  "Does the name 'Elaine' ring a bell?"

Gambit squinted, "Elaine ... Elaine ..."  He pulled his brow together as his mouth fell open at the realization.  "Elaine!"  He was aghast.  "Ya don' mean de one Stormy beat de S_it out of at Harry's a while back?"

Bishop nodded.  "One and the same."  He leaned his shoulder on the window facing then turn back towards Gambit.  "Can you believe that she actually sat down at my table, but the whole while she stated that she didn't want to make Ororo mad?"

Gambit sat up in his seat.  "Did she say ant'ing else?"

"Yes.  She said that I was not like any of the other guys she knew and that she would like to be my friend."

"Woooe!"  Gambit shook his head hard, No.  He then sliced his hand across his throat.  "In case ya may have some doubt 'bout it, trust me ... Stormy would ne'vah go for ya being friends wit' dis woman... or any ot'er woman for dat mat'ta."  He looked at Bishop closely.  "I hope ya know dat."

Bishop raked his had through his hair at his temple.  "That's a forgone conclusion.  I'm not a Fool.  I did everything possible to disuade her.  I don't want any contact with this woman, but she keeps popping up."

Gambit sat back in his chair.  He rubbed his index finger aimlessly across his chin as he thought about Bishop's situation.  "Pup, did she come on ta ya again?"

Bishop turned to let his back rest against the corner of the window, "It was not as profound as it was at Harry's ... but I say ...... Yes, she did."  He let his head fall back against the wall as he closed his eyes.  "I left before anyone saw us together."  He opened his eyes to look at the ceiling.  "What am I going to do?  This can only lead to trouble."  He turned his head to Gambit, "I think she followed me."  He frowned as he thought back through his and Elaine's conversation.  "As a matter of fact, she said that she followed me into the resturant."

Oh Sh_t!  "Pup!"  Gambit breathed as he shook his head from side to side.  "Dis persistant _itch can not be play'in wit' de full deck ta still come after ya, 'specially after wha' Stormy did ta her.  Take my word on it, she mean ya absolutely no good.  I seen stuff like dis on de TV.  Women's and men's be fantisizing a life wit' someone dey can't have.  Somehow dey t'ink it'll make dere life better if dey had dat person."  He squinted as he thought then he snapped his fingers, "Dere was a movie out 'bout it."  He mulled the thought around in his head.  "It was called ... it was called ... 'Fatal ... Fatal Obsession'."

"Surely it is not that severe.  I think you are exaggerating."

Gambit shrugged.  "Could be.  Only time well tell."

But suppose he's not?  Bishop thought about the movie that Gambit had referred to.  He shook his head, No.  "It was called 'Fatal Attraction.' "  He shook his head up and down, Yes.   "I remember ..."  Something else occured to him about the movie, something totally disturbing.  "... Oh my ... Remy!"

Gambit watched as Bishop started pacing back and forward in front of him.  He was becoming more and more agitated about something he was thinking about.  Gambit came out of his seat to stand near him.  "Wha' is it Bish?"

"In the movie ... when the woman saw she could not get the man ..."  Oh No!  "... she went after the ..."

"... woman."  They both said in unison as they turned to look at each other.

"I t'ink ya best tell Stormy wha's going on Pup and tell her soon." Gambit looked at his watch.  "We talk 'bout dis more tomorrow.  Raht now I got ta go 'Rogue Sit'."

"O.K. Remy.  This can't be happening ... maybe ...  "Maybe we're jumping to conclusions?  If I've misread her, I could be falsely accusing her.  Suppose if she was sincere when she said we could be friends?  If I'd been more sterner ... maybe ..."

"Aww!!  Listen at'cha com'in up wit' excuses!"  Remy groused.  "My Popa use ta say dat 'if If was a fifth, we'd all be drunk."  Gambit patted him on the shoulder as he started to leave.  "Do ya'self a favor, tell Stormy.  If ya don't, ya give dis woman too much power de next time she decides ta intrude in ya life."

Bishop watch Gambit walk toward the door.  "How do you know about all this?"  He called out.

Gambit just sort of chuckled.  "Ya don' live like we do and not meet a couple of nuts wit'out tight screws along de way.  Ya long over due Pup."  Gambit winked as he turned to leave.  "Remember what I said 'bout tell'in Stormy," then he left closing the door behind him.

Life is never simple but does it have to always be so hard?  He asked himself as he turned to leave out of Gambit's new room.
