They're not particularly humorous, just reflect my own personal opinion on the various high and low points of our favorite Trek series. <p> Contents: <ul> <li>Top Ten Best Episodes <li>Top Ten Worst Episodes <li>Top Ten Best Guest Characters (two or less appearances) <li>Top Ten Best Recurring Characters (more than two appearances) <li>Top Ten Best Single Scenes <li>Top Ten Coolest Episode Titles </ul> <p> <hr> <p> <b>THE TOP TEN BEST DS9 EPISODES</b> <p> 10. <a href="episodes/ep49.html">The House of Quark</a> The best of a Klingon episode and the best of a Ferengi episode showing that center of essential goodness in Quark...not that he'd admit it! <p> 9. <a href="episodes/ep83.html">Homefront</a>/<a href="ep84.html">Paradise Lost</a> Fascinating Earthbound two-parter ostensibly about the Changeling threat on Earth, but really about the dangers of military paranoia. <p> 8. <a href="episodes/ep6.html">Captive Pursuit</a> A thought-provoking concept, a fascinating guest character and a totally original script is a breath of freshness and vitality. <p> 7. <a href="episodes/ep124.html">A Call to Arms</a> Portentous and tightly plotted fifth-season finale heralds the landmark Dominion Occupation arc. <p> 6. <a href="episodes/ep110.html">The Begotten</a> Impossibly touching and well-acted story of Odo's relationship with an infant Changeling, it contains several key plot points. <p> 5. <a href="episodes/ep28.html">Necessary Evil</a> Seamless flashback to the Occupation and the events which introduced Odo to a young resistance fighter named Kira Nerys. <p> 4. <a href="episodes/ep143.html">In the Pale Moonlight</a> The disturbingly chilling tale of how Sisko traded part of his soul for a new ally against the Dominion. <p> 3. <a href="episodes/ep164.html">Chimera</a> Moving and flawless character study about the nature of individuality and the transformative power of love. <p> 2. <a href="episodes/ep120.html">Children of Time</a> Haunting time-travel paradox in which the Defiant crew must choose between their own future and that of their own descendents. <p> And the best DS9 episode is... <p> 1. <a href="episodes/ep19.html">Duet</a> This two-character study of war crimes and forgiveness is unparalleled in the annals of science fiction. <p> Runners-up: It's Only a Paper Moon, Trials and Tribble-ations, Far Beyond the Stars, The Siege of AR-558, Battle Lines, Heart of Stone, The Wire, Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast <p> <hr> <p> <b>THE TOP TEN WORST DS9 EPISODES</b> <p> 10. <a href="episodes/ep87.html">Sons of Mogh</a> The worst kind of Klingon claptrap, and what was done to Kurn is unconscionable. <p> 9. <a href="episodes/ep37.html">Playing God</a> Milquetoast Trill candidates and the world's worst station-in-jeopardy plot. A yawnfest from start to finish. <p> 8. <a href="episodes/ep149.html">The Sound of Her Voice, A plot only</a> It's a crime when such a promising concept turns out so flat and uninspired. <p> 7. <a href="episodes/ep132.html">Resurrection</a> Horrid mistreatment of the mirror universe introduces the most grievous bastardization of a good character in the entire series. <p> 6. <a href="episodes/ep5.html">Babel</a> Pointless weird-alien-virus garbage that's amusing for about thirty seconds, then may just drive you to the brink of insanity. <p> 5. <a href="episodes/ep30.html">Sanctuary</a> Boring, boring, boring...and full of cheap plot contrivances. <p> 4. <a href="episodes/ep29.html">Second Sight</a> Typically lame romance-of-the-week. Annoying guest stars, out-of-character portrayals, and bad dialogue...a triple threat. <p> 3. <a href="episodes/ep10.html">Move Along Home</a> Incomprehensible and a complete waste of 42 minutes that I will never get back. Damn the bastards. <p> 2. <a href="episodes/ep54.html">Meridian</a> An even <i>lamer</i> romance-of-the-week and a completely unbelievable one at that...not to mention the central concept is all but stolen. <p> And the worst DS9 episode is... <p> 1. <a href="episodes/ep93.html">The Muse</a> Shudder. Shudder.
